It is better to prefer matter over gloss as matte looks good than gloss.
My mom just painted her interior railings Benjamin Moore BLACK (f235 80). It is the most incredible black colour. She used the satin finish and it is surprisingly quite glossy, so I can only imagine what a real gloss finish would look like. I bet it would be AMAZING on a front door. Good Luck!
If you can provide a picture of your front door much better.
And for me much better to use matte.
Matte is not vulnerable and not easily mark by fingerprints..

Yup, what she said - Mrs. Peacock that is. Gloss is much more durable over the long run when you factor in cleaning.
Personally, I would paint it black for several reasons. One is a gloss finish will give more impact/wow factor. Second is that gloss is more scrubbable and a front door is a high traffic area.
