Does anyone watch this show?
I started to a few episodes in...
What I want to know is if anyone can explain it to me...lol
I know they speak of $100,000. prize at the end...but do the others, non winners, get anything out of this....the show involves some serious renovations...and a lot of us know how that is...just not sure what happens with the property....
Would appreciate any insight.

Yes, I like it too..........
I try and tape it. Seems I'm not so good understanding some of their accents...like to be able to rewind, see what I missed.
They are quite the characters...
I like how they break down budgets etc.
I have lived thru renovations-the dust and the headaches...but never all at once...
they really are put thru the paces with trying to work outside the block, and continue living like that.
I enjoy that show as well. It is an interesting concept compared to some of the ho-hum shows. The renos are huge some are doing. I find all those shows very interesting.
Susan thanks for explaing the profits factor as I wondered as well. :)
Thanks SusanB
Now I get it.....interesting...
thanks for the side info as well..
I too know some people down there who have spent a fortune on a home in Sydney.

In Australia, houses are auctioned off. The units have all been equally appraised before the renos, so when the unit is sold, the couple get to keep the difference between the appraised value and what it actually sells for. Then the couple who sells their unit for the most gets to the big prize.
I've been to Sydney (husband's mother lives there) and believe me, real estate prices are outrageous there. When we visited in 2003, there was talk of eliminating the stamp tax on houses under $500K. That's a tax that's assessed on house sales. But everyone said that there was nothing under $500K in Sydney so it wouldn't benefit anyone! Unfortunately my mother-in-law lived in a small rental unit so she doesn't benefit from those high prices!
