I have a great pair of Uggs and love them but they are slippery and feel a little nervous wearing them in icy places. I know you can buy grippers to put on your boots but I am afraid of recking my Uggs. Has anyone used the grippers and do they mark up the top of your boot.

I wouldn't risk it. I'll stick to my flat hiking style winter boots for everyday use and the heck with what they look like. I haven't fallen down in years since I started wearing sensible footwear in the winter.
Arizona those grippers I linked to on the Shopping Channel come in a 'ladies' version which is made for high heeled boots. The heel slides through and the trax is on the ball of the foot I think.
I've seen ice grippers at Zellers pharmacy hanging up.
I have a gorgous pair of Ralph Lauren Berit boots that have too high a heel to be practical but I don't mind wearing them indoors or when I know I won't come into contact with ice. I wonder if you could take your Uggs to a shoe repair place to get something done to the sole?
Here's another type http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/product/more+from/yaktrax+wintertrax+with+carrying+pouch+294416.do?N=129175
I saw them on the Shopping Channel and they say they won't mark or harm your shoes. I noticed they are selling them in the Shoppers Drugs homecare stores but just tonight I found them in my local grocery store... so I bought some. The dog park gets like an ice rink after the dogs have packed the snow down so I figured these would be easy to carry.
I just looked and mine are made by yaktrax but called Wintertrax. the site is www.yaktrax.ca and it has a dealer locator too. I pulled them out of the package and they are very pliable so will be easy to carry in a pocket and I don't think they would hurt your uggs. I paid $19 at the grocery store BTW.
Another place to buy grippers is from a store that specializes in running. We have the Running Room in Ottawa that carries grippers. You can see them at www.duenorthproducts.com. I have some but I am not sure whether they would mark your nice boots.
Those ice grippers from Lee Valley are on my Christmas wish list. They're not pretty, but I had a wipe out on the ice on Saturday that I'd rather not repeat.
I don't think these gripper would damage your boots.
Safety over fashion! I definitely agree with SamKing, you may hurt yourself if you don't get boots that can grip the ice. You may end up slipping and falling on something that will take the rest of the winter to heal. Walking around with a cast and crutches in the ice and snow isn't much better...remember that and take care. :)
I would rather you damage your UGGS - (have no idea of the grips do ruin footwear) than damage or hurt you !!!
Uggs are replaceable.
Be careful. Protect yourself.
