Brushed Chrome Spray Paint?

My husband brought an old chandelier home from a reno job he was working on, and I LOVE it. However, the chandelier is spray painted black ( over the original brass finish). All of the fixtures in our new place are going to be brushed Chrome, is there a brushed chrome spray paint?

If you're really keen on the brushed chrome look you could use a shiny chrome or silver spray paint and then finish up with a clear matt finish spray. That seems like the simplest solution to me.

It's so funny, I've done so few DIY projects and now that we've bought a place I've got at least 10 in mind!

Thanks for the ideas, I'll definatley have a look at the 'rub and buff' wax. I'll have to do another black base coat...it's already chipping off. I really like the ideas of creating almost an antiqued look by letting the black show through.

thanks!

You are probably going to have to fudge it. The reason brushed chrome looks like it does is that is has been given a texture (the 'brushed' part). What you could do is find the base colour you like which may be chrome or silver or whatever and then get a black or light grey or maybe even a peuter or bronze (depends what tone you are shooting for as some of the brushed metals have a warm tone) do a light coat with an almost dry brush to imitate that texture.

An alternative is to get to Michaels or similar and look at the 'rub and buff' waxes. Those waxes are great and very believable. You could use them as the base and to accent after or just as the top accent. You apply them with a finger or brush and then rub it around. They give you a lot of control and if you make a mistake you can get it off. It will take a little more effort but the results will probably be better than what one spray paint could offer.

ACtually, since the lamp is already black, you might try just brushing on (dry brush) a silver to see if you can get the look you want by leaving some of the black coming through. You might be able to do it in one coat but if you can't, nothing lost, just add more silver and do a top coat of the colour you need.

i don't know anything about brushed chrome spray paint...but i do know that's one darling chandelier. you know, now that i think on it...tremclad makes a 'hammered paint' that's metalic (high gloss finish)...i used it in my bb's room...he wanted black/blue and metalic silver so i used the tremclad cause it was way cheaper then ralph laurens metallic paints....it went on like a dream.so if you don't mind using a paint brush on your chandellier, i'd recommend it.
