This used to be a fireplace with niche which was quite large with no mantle....almost to the ceiling ...any decor piece we tried placing looked to small ...I am not too fond of cutouts in the wall...so we came up with this design , my husband covered this one with mdf and made the mantle and put all new trims and crown moulding and painted it with Olde Eggshell from home depot....i love my fireplace now...and my husband was so pleased with panelling that he did it in the home office as well.
PS the whole house has been repainted which was origianally all boring palest of the pale green...

Bargains, bargains.....I love bargains too.....the room looks even better now that you have a close up picture :)
How did you come about your ideas for the decor? I love it!
my husband is a big fan of skysrcapers ...so i incorperated that theme in the home office ..."he thinks the room belongs to him now ...but i use it more than him :D ....all the furniture pieces were major bargain....i never pay full price for anything....the table and chair both from superstrore .....for $100 each and the globe was $40 ...the computer armoire was $140
trying again for the pics....
its actually an ivory color called olde eggshell from behr at hd....the panels on half of the wall are mdf strips attached on the wall...i have a close up pic...
ps i m trying to attach pic but it says file is too big ...let me make it smaller first

Wow! gorgeous rooms you have. The yellow wall in the study, is there any moulding going up the wall, or is it stripes painted on it....either way, looks great

I would love to show my whole house .....we have done lots of work on it since we bought it a year ago...it looks beautiful and we have saved tons by doing everything ourselves, most of our neighbours have come by to see the transformation...they cant believe its the same house ....my only regret is that we didnt take before pictures...we were too exited to get the project going...i will post more pictures when my husband gets home in the evening ...i have two kids under 3 and they dont let me sit on the computer too long.
Beautiful work! Well done!

love it. it looks fabulous. i love panelling in that fashion. very crisp and modern but classic. we did a similar treatment to our stairway wall leading upstairs.
Great job! You guys are very handy with carpentry. What other projects have you two done?
