i know it is way too early but i have a question about planting bulbs. i have been looking through a mail order catalogue and that's got me thinking how many do i need? i am looking to plant bulbs in clusters throughout the garden. how many bulbs (mainly tulips and daffodils) should i plant per cluster (keeping in mind, i hear, that squirrels like them)?

also, speaking of squirrels, does the bloodmeal really work at keeping animals from eating the bulbs once in the ground?

and the squirrels can really throw a wrench in the plans....or is that a peanut?

I like to make small clusters of 5. I guess if you are really PATIENT about the multiplying thing, go with a minimum of 3. If you want a good first-year display for a space around the size your arms can hug around, I'd plant a group of 12.
