I am working on a 70's theme party and I can't for the life of me find beaded curtains. You know the ones you hang from the door frames. Does ANYONE know where I can find them? I need them by the 24th. I have checked Wal-Mart, Zellars, San Fransisco (sp) gifts, tried to order them online but it was more to ship them than what they were worth. None of my vendors have any. I am stuck! HELP! I am going to check out Army and Navy today.. Sigh.. they use to be everywhere and now I can't find them AHHH!

You might try dollar stores or party stores like Party Packagers. I know I have seen them around but can't for the life of me think of where. I have also made one for a mexican theme and took a beaded seat cushion apart and strung the beads, alternating with different coloured straws cut to shorter lengths.

I just thought about a backup plan. How about making one? It would do in a pinch. I'm thinking for true 70's style of some kind of jute string, not too thick, that is like stuff found in macrame kits from that time.

1. get a garden stake in bamboo from the garden center that's about the width of the door. (trim with garden snips to alter if nec.)

2. tie lengths of string (string that's not too thick) in 1" spaces all along the top. String lengths should be 1 foot longer than you need, to allow for knots which sill shorten the overall length. Secure placement or these strings along the bamboo stake with a dab with a glue gun or glue.

3. String on the beads. It would be fairly inexpensive to buy a bag or two of pony beads in a colour you like from either the dollar store or Michaels. Just make sure you buy some with holes that are large enough to thread easily on the string.you're using. Starting with the first bead, move it up so it is maybe 5" from where the string is secured to the bamboo stake, then tie a knot beneath where it is to keep it there. You can string beads evenly or randomly as you choose.

Do you have the Ardene stores in your area? They sell them frequently.
