Calla lily blooms

Just wondering if anyone knows about how long calla lilies blooms last once they're fully open. Mine seem to be on the brink of coming into full bloom, but I'm going to be out of town till Monday night. I'm guesisng they last longer than 3 days, but I just want to be sure -- if I miss the blooms, I'll be seriously bummed!!!!

What a difference 3 days make!! The callas are in full bloom now, and other plants in the garden are just going nuts!!

Mary Anne, I've learned my lesson about callas -- I assumd the bulbs could winter in the ground, but that was a mistake. I'm digging up the bulb as soon as it starts to get cold!!

Here's another couple of calla pics:

yes, depending on where you are, callas are not hardy. Certainly not here in Ottawa (zone 4-5)!

lisi, that's a great calla lily print :) I've got a few calla prints in my house, and I just love them... they're such a simple flower, but so beautiful :) As for the hydrangeas, I'm torn between leaving my blooms on the plant and cutting them to dry. I've been waiting so long to have hydranges, I don't know if I can bring myself to cutting them!!

kstyle, Mary Anne is right, those purple flowers are campanulas or blue clips. I'm hoping they'll get bigger and bushier and start to grow over the edge of the retaining wall.

Mary Anne, my fingers are crossed for your callas!! I had the same thing happen last year -- lots of leaves, but no blooms. Then the bulbs must've died over the winter, because nothing at all came up this year. I bought his white calla about 2 weeks ago at a garden centre. I'm going to dig up the bulb in the fall so it doesn't die like my other bulbs did. Hopefully, I'll have more callas next summer :)

would bloom! I have them in a nice blue glazed pot at the back door (south), and they are not doing a darn thing except having lovely leaves!!! Cross your fingers and say a charm or something so they will bloom, everyone, please!!!

P.S. the lovely little blue ones are 'blue clips' Campanula carpatica, aren't they? mine are beautiful this year.

Thanks for sharing, you are so lucky to have them, I like the blue ones the best too but they are all really gorgeous! The four I had are now drying, (Foxxy gave me some info) I hope it's going to to work but I might have cut them too late. The callas should last a couple of weeks, mine have been in bloom for a least 3 weeks. I am actually thinking buying a print from Art.com. it's shows lilies in a vase. I would go nicely with my chocolate brown wall in the family room
Framing some of your photos would be great, I was thinking of doing that with the callas but I don't have a good camera.
Here is the art I'm thinking of ordering:

PS Sorry, I was going to post under hydrangeas
