I think KCR is right, does not look like an orchid to me. If you paid under $10 I doubt it is an orchid. They usually sell for $20 -30 or more.
Did you buy it while it was already blooming? If so, it's likely just at the end of it's life! I usually buy them before they bloom. You can let the foliage die back and then plant it in your garden...you'd have to do a bit of research for exact times as I am not sure about that. I hate it when that kind of thing happens!
