Can't decide what color window coverings to use.

I'm having trouble knowing what color window coverings I should use in my living room/dining room. The windows for both areas are on the same wall. The couch is dark green with red throw pillows for accent color. The walls are beige and the floor is a light laminate. I am trying to keep the living room casual. Should I be using a solid beige color to match the wall color or a multicolor that will have some of the colors from the room. There are white blinds that must stay. What types of material can I use that will still leave the room casual.

Or, another suggestion would be to introduce a pattern in the draperies, depending on whether there are other patterns in the space (for example, is your sofa plain green or patterned; do you have a rug on the floor?).  I would look for a patterned drapery panel that may have a neutral background but brings in some of the colour in the room, such as a stripe, paisley, geometric, etc in greens and red.  Since you already have blinds, it sounds like you are looking to 'finish or soften' the look rather than having drapes for privacy or light control.  Green and red are complimentary colours so you should be able to find that combination; the trick will be to find the right green to tie in with your sofa.

Thanks for the suggestion. I like the sounds of that.

beige would look nice, and what about something like a linen? light, casual and airy.
