Cast Iron griddle

i just bought one today...and i am a huge fan of cast iron cookware...the older the better...but i've never had a cast griddle...i would imagine it requires the same treament as regular cast iron pans...anyone know?

HI Jenjen, I'm sure you'll love the griddle, they require the same treatment as any cast iron cookware, season it first by rubbing it well with oil and put in the oven at 250 deg. for at least an hour, remove, wipe clean and repeat once more. Never use soap on any cast iron pots and pans. THis comes from my Mom and I have two of her frying pans that are at least 30 years old if not older.
