Cat fleas??

I am wondering if cat fleas can damage shrubs? I have a problem with my neighbors cats coming in my yard, and they have fleas. The reason I'm asking, is that alot of my flowering shrubs didn't do well last year. The cat lay down on the fence just above my shrubs. What to do??
Thank you.

I don't think fleas are the problem!! Sounds like the cats are urinating there. Cat urine is has alot of ammonia which can damage plants. Try burying moth balls around the problem area.

Home Depot and other places sell a product that lasts 3-4 weeks to repel cats, dogs , raccoons etc. I would think if the cats are spraying and burying feces that would affect the growth. Try a deterant and also ferilize your plants and see. Maybe mulching under the plants would also help stop them digging to bury their feces.

am no expert about fleas but I think fleas are fairly host specific so I don't think they would leave the cats to bother shrubs or plants. I wonder though if maybe the cats are urinating around the shrubs? That might damage them...
