I've tried all the commercial items and none of them work. The Cat keeps returning overnight to do its business. The fact of the matter is that I think it enjoys the smell of the commercial products I use. I have a vegetable garden, only small any suggestions. Thanks

Citrenila (cant spell)
Try the annual citrenila, it will deter dogs, cats, rabbit, deer, and many insects. Its the same stuff that they put in OFF and other insect repellents. Has an odor so make sure you dont mind it before you plant it. Also will be kind of hard to find this late in the year. Good luck -david
I live in a neighbourhood with tons of cats, and for the past 2 summers I have (unsuccessfully) tried cayenne pepper, citrus rinds, bloodmeal, chicken wire and a number of other methods to try to prevent them from pooping in my garden and digging up my plants. I've finally found a solution that works! A couple of months ago we bought a motion-activated sprinkler from Lee Valley. I think it's called the "Scarecrow". It's a fairly small black plastic head mounted on a spike. You drive the spike into the garden or lawn and connect the hose at the base. You can adjust the distance and range of the water spray. I have not found one cat turd or a single hole in my garden since I started using this. An added bonus is that I no longer have little holes in my backyard from racoons trying to dig up grubs. I can't remember the exact price, but think it was around $80.00. The company that makes the Scarecrow also makes another animal-deterring garden device that emits a noise inaudible to humans but highly irritating to cats, dogs, racoons etc. I don't know anyone who's used this so can't vouch for its effectiveness.
Hope this helps!
have a had a problem lately - all over our newly seeded lawn, in my garden, on my patio, etc.. We called the town office & they bring up a cat trap when one becomes available. It doesn't kill them or anything, but if the owner doesn't claim it in so many days, it gets put down by a vet.
borrow a friends big dog for a couple of nights and leave it outside. The cat will probably do it's business cause the dog scared it out of him....that should do the trick, it worked at my house. Now no cats dare enter.
check the posts under "Moth Balls" for cat deterants
I wonder if you got some dog hair from a local dog groomer and put it on the beds mixed it in a little with the earth, if that may deter the cats. Maybe an idea. I know human hair deters deer from eating trees and plants.

see "Moth Balls?" thread...I suggested to Kelly that she try Bloodmeal. This is also good fertilizer for your garden.
I have the same problem and I can sympathyize. I'm loosing my mind! I tried moth balls (although I do not suggest it if you have children). I put them in 2 days ago and haven't seen the cats since but that may be for other reasons. I'll let you know. Let me know if you find anything else. If we wanted to pick up cat's poo we would have cats ourselves right?
I'm guessing you live in a town or city so my cat repellant may not be for you. I live in a very rual area and the only cats we have are wild so theres no owners to call when they get into my garden. I've been forced in the past to resort to a pellet gun. I stress that I only recomend this in a rual area!
Hello igor
Try using Cayenne pepper. Just sprinkle it in the area that you want to keep the cat from, you will have to repear the treatment everytime it gets wet or blow away. It has worked for me in the past to keep a cat off my back porch and out of my current garden.
