Does anyone have any easy ideas for table centre pieces? I'm not looking for something 'fancy for a dinner party.' I live in a rural farmhouse, and like to have something on the centre of the kitchen table - getting rather tired of the same ol' candle groupings.
Has anyone come across a site with pictures or have simple ideas for me?

Something tells me they weren't the holders with Scoobiedoo on them (although that might make a cool kidlet centrepeice)
Martha Stewart had a great idea in this month' mag. She used tooth brush holders ( the ones with the holes in them) as vases. She used small wild flowers...you could use anything really. A grouping of three - five would look great and casual in your setting.
Thanks for all the great ideas. I was in such a creative rut and was so sick of looking at those same tired candles..... Now I have lots of ideas to choose from !
Do you have any wheat in the fields? I would get a handful of that and put it in a pitcher with a nice ribon around the mouth of the pitcher. Or even just tie the wheat together with the ribbon making the ends spread out to make their own base and have one or two of those on the table. Make sure they are high enough to see your guests or have them laying down on the table.
If you live in the country side there must be wild flowers available. Try a large jug/pitcher filled with flowers.
or a large clear glass bowl with a single flower floating, a sunflower would fill the whole surface of a glass bowl.
I know that BHG.com had about 75 slideshows on different centerpieces, there are lots of ads and the site can be kind of slow but I love looking at all the different pictures and you can get some great ideas...either to use straight off the page or takes pieces to create your own masterpiece :)
go to their site and do a SITE search for "centerpieces"
Coloured glass or metal bowls with fruit or orbs.
Like a cobalt blue bowl filled with lemons.
I don't have pics or a site link...but I'm thinking just fresh flowers in a simple glass vase. My first thought is Sunflowers (I LOVE sunflowers). And its the perfect time right now. Then through the winter you could get an Amaryllis (I can't think of anything else I have in the winter...whatever is available I guess), in the spring Tulips, Daisies through the summer...etc etc etc. I'm just thinking go with the season and keep it simple.
:) Mel
