Hi.. I have two old chairs that I rescued from the garbage. They are wood frames and the 'seat' is some sort of wicker (its more like thick twine actually!!!) I would like to paint them and then replace the wicker 'seat' with a cushioned one. I have no idea how I would do this because without the wicker, there is no seat at all... Can anyone help me?
Thanks...

That's really helpful, thank you! I do have pictures but they are too big to post ( I guess?). The seat is removable, I might just cut the wicker out of there...?
is the seat removable from the rest of the chair? do you have picture?
how about just getting a very thin piece of plywood cut to the shape of the seat (do you have a jigsaw?) for extra stability then place on top a 1-2" foam also in the shape of the seat and with a fabric of your choice wrap it around the seat and staple from beneath? you could just add the cushion part if the wicker seat is strong enough as is...
does that make sense?
hope it helps :)
