Yes i realize xmas is over but that is what prompted this question. Do you find you are decorating for xmas in a more simplistic way or have you always or do you go xmas decor crazy?
I got rid of my villages as i dont have the room to put them out anymore and i also got rid of tree ornaments and other xmas ornaments that was just eating up storage space. At one time we would really deck our house, inside and out. However, the past couple of years i did it more simple and it was so quick and easy to do and less dreaded to put it away after the holiday. My original thought was because i wanted xmas to feel like it did growing up, simple not something to dread doing or so commercialized. Gosh for a few years, it seemed like people were competing to see who could have the most outdoor lights and decorations and that was when we decided to become more simple, it is way less work, saves energy and time.
just wondering.....simple or not

I also have downsized Christmas decor...When the grandsons were small the tree had decorations geared towards them...I had abig tree upstairs & a small tree downstairs with little wooden toy decorations....I also had the village ...We use to do the whole house frame roof & all in lights. along with the snowmen & candycanes(the grandkids loved it).....Now that the boys have grown so has my Christmas decor...a classy decorated tree....fireplace mantel with ceramic nativity pieces..& the entrance railing with simple boughs& a couple of centre pieces....The outdoor lights are now limited to the entrance trees & the balcony railing...It is so much simpler to put up & take down...LESS IS BEST;)
It's not quite the same, but when i decorate for christmas i decorate the way i wanted my wedding to look; in that i wanted it to be classic and simple. when i look back at my pictures of christmas, i don't want to be distracted by overdone christmas things that will look really dated in years to come. i want to focus on the people in the pictures. it was the same way with my wedding. if you keep it simple you'll end up focusing on the important things instead of saying "ughh! i can't believe i thought that looked good!"
cheezy right? having said that. some think that christmas is a time to go all out! nothing wrong with that either. it's all about your perspective.
