grrrrrrrrr, rumble, rumble!
the traditional bird with all the trimmings BUT dessert is always my special English Trifle laced with a concoction of liquers. And I am not even English - we just love it - light and boozy finish to a grand meal!:D
When the boys come home we have a fondue on Christmas Eve that has game meat pheasant and seafood it is always so much fun lasts about 4hours. Dinner I wouldn't dare make any changes to it DH would have a fit. He wants Turkey with sage stuffing, mash Potato sweet potato, brussel sprouts, carrots, gravy and homemade cranberry sauce then plum pudding and rum sauce for dessert. I always make Fruit cakes and shortbead that is the only baking I do. Breakfast is always ham and eggs with fruit and hashbrown potato and toast with black currant jam. It is the only time of the year I buy Black currant jam and it wouldn't be Christmas without it. DH doesn't like company or going anywhere as he claims dinner is never the same and he hates it when people mess around with his stuffing.
i usually feed no less than 10 people...sometimes more...i love doing it...i get up at about 5 am to start my tomatoe sauce and meatballs...then i have to make the fresh lasagna noodles...and so on and so on...
jenjen, that is a huge dinner. How many people do you feed?
My Christmas dinner is much less. Traditional to us is turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, mashed turnip, carrots, dressing, gravy and dessert is always apple crisp and ice cream (usually about 4 hours after stuffing ourselves with dinner).
I envy people who have big families and who can gather them at the Christmas dinner table. We have always been only the four of us - this year there is only dh and I. I am trying to think of something new for our Christmas meal celebration - to start a 'just two' tradition.
