I'm in the middle of putting ribbon on my Christmas tree (instead of tinsel), and I'm wondering if there's some sort of trick to it. The tree is in a corner, so the ribbon doesn't have to go all the way around the tree. But it looks kind of funny in the places where I'm doubling back. I'm kind of twisting the ribbon as I go, but it doesn't look quite right.
I'm using ribbon with the wires down the sides, so I can position it how I want it and where I want it to some degree
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this work??

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still adjusting the decorations and ribbon on the tree, and I bought another roll of ribbon to fill in some gaps. Tinsel is much easier to hang, but I have to say that I prefer the look of the ribbon :-)
I think I understand the vertical hanging concept. It's probably too much work to re-do all the ribbon this year, but I'll keep that idea in mind for next Christmas.
I saw the Designers Holiday special from last year a few weeks ago and Sarah Richardson put ribbon on a tree that looked great. She used a small ring (the kind you use for a wreath I think they are a green styrofoam surface) and wrapped ribbon around it and secured it by tying a little knot. She did this using different colors of ribbon but they all had a similar color tone. Then she placed the ring over the top of the tree and the ribbon hung vertically around the tree. This probably doesn't make sense so if anyone else knows what I am talking about and can explain it better please do. Anyway I thought it looked great.
What I would do if I wanted to save a bit of money and have the best look is
a) not go all the way around the tree if in corner as you said your tree is and cut into pieces going from small pieces to larger pieces for the bottom of the tree.
b) to make it look natural and flowing put the ribbon in and out of the tree and space ribbon even from top to bottom.
Hope this makes sense.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Kim
