Help! I have just painted the interior of my house with Benjamin Moore, Standish White - using flat paint. There are a few scuff and finger marks but when I tried to clean them, the marks came off very easily but the water mark remained. It dried but remained as a shadow. I have even tried the Mr Clean eraser with the same result - any solutions?

I have the exact same problem!!!! I always have to wash the whole wall! I hate it!!!! Careful with the Magic Eraser it will take off your paint if you scrub too hard... But I do love my MG Eraser!
using tsp. You may take off some of the paint--but if so, then I'd recommend re-painting that particular area in pearl anyway. You don't want these cleaning problems--and flat is just not THAT washable! I hope you don't have flat in the kitchen too? For that you definietly need something "scrubbable!"
I find spot-cleaning hard to do without achieving the result you have indicated. Like it or not, walls do develop a film in very little time, which really can't be avoided. Every time you cook, for example, stuff escapes into the air in the form of steam, and even a bit of grease/oil can be in that. When you open your windows, fine particles enter, like that of pollens. The film is not always noticeable, but shows up when you spot-clean.
Try doing the whole wall to see if the effect goes away. I've heard its best to start at the bottom. If you start at the top, sometimes a water drip goes down the wall and it can be hard to remove that. (I think I learned that on Jon Eakes)
I used ulta matte flat paint by BM. I have had no problems cleaning them. However, my sister in law, used the same but the painter she hired painted 2 thin coats and it is not holding up.
All I have used so far is soapy water. On one spot i used Fantastic and it didn't present a problem.
Some paint (I know RL) requires that you not clean the painted walls for 30 days. Check the can on BM and see if it is also required.
