I suppose the pistol pewter in my BR appears light because of the halogen lighting on the ceiling. I have the lights aligned so that they skim the ceiling, casting a glow on the walls. I would describe PP as a mid-toned grey; not too light, not too dark. I took a look at the photos of your kitchen again, and I think it would go well. And I think a half strength version would probably work well in the tv room. But eventually you just have to take the bull by the horns and try it. The photos people post are so small they can't convey everything people need for the best colour decision. The problem is complicated, moreover, by computer monitors -- they just don't give a completely accurate rendition of colour. So the comes a point where you gotta blow $40 for a gallon of paint and try it out. There's been a lot of "ink spilt" on the site lately over paint colours. Everyone's getting a bit frustrated trying to make their choices. And of course, when there's 3700 others sitting on their computers suggesting this choice or that, I can see how it would be overwhelming. There is a point where you just got to do it -- you have to risk not liking it, and you have to risk others not liking it. Hey, take look at my kitchen LOL. Now if that's not a risk, what is? As I stated in one of my other posts, I painted the east wall of my LR in 6 or 7 colours before I found the one colour that worked for me (at least for now!).

are you saying my computer screen is tricking me into liking your kitchen:D The colours are off or something? :D I don't buy it.:(
Thanks MikeD :p And I'd have a yummy meal and lots of red stuff waiting for you just for even offering!
If I were in Markham I'd come and paint your stairwell for free :-)
You're right. I know, I'm ready to take it by the horns. As soon as things settle down with my grandma. Right now there's a lot going on so I only have time to think, not work. But soon. I can feel it!!
The opinions CAN become overwhelming sometimes though, you're right. Sometimes I think I'm more confused AFTER hearing all the different ideas than before I even ask a question! lol But seriously, I do learn more on here and with good company, so its all good.
Kudos to you and taking risks with your kitchen. I'm not a risk taker by nature but I'm trying to change. Bedrooms I can see myself painting one colour, and changing my mind soon after -but the main floor is going to be a pain because it will cost me even more $$ to get someone to do the stairway wall going up to the second floor. I can't do that myself. I already paid someone last year to do it and its not like its only $50 or $100 bucks. So that's the only reason I may seem so particular -its not that I'm so picky or anything. I'm just trying to be smart about it.
