My friend is refinishing her wood coffee table. She feels it is too high and is planning to cut the legs down. How high should a contemporary coffee table be? Should it be level with the height of the seat of her sofa, or is there a guideline to follow?

I would recommend to keep its height above the seat of sofa as it will be convient for you to pick up things from it rather than bending to get them.
