My neighbours have some boxwood in their backyard, oreo ~~ it's planted close to the house -- the yard is facing east........and I'm in Calgary, too. I know they don't protect it in the winter at all -- and it must be at least 15 years old. Tell you what -- let me call my botanist g/f today and ask her about it for you. I've always wondered about boxwood, too --- I like the look of it -- but have only seen it alive and growing in BC! Well -- other than the one across the street from me!! :) So hang on -- don't plant right this minute -- until I find out the best spot for them!! Great planting weather though
I would assume if you bought them in Calgary where you live they should do well. Most garden centres only sell plants appropriate for the area/zone..
