Ok, I'm confused. I watch "How not to Decorate" and they are one way. I watch "Trading Up" (I think that's what it's called) and they are totally different. In the latter show, they are much much nicer to the homeowners and way more tolerant. Even if the decor is hideous (and it often is), they try to see the positive. In "How not to Decorate", they freak out over everything. Who are the real Colin & Justin?
Also, are those guys real designers? Or just media guys? Do they do any work that's not on TV?

I totally agree. They would send me around the bend with how they mismanage things and tantrum out on that show. Did you notice they lost Katie (the assistant), then they lost the new one and now have another (guess we'll see if he lasts). It would take a saint to put up with those two. It reminds me of the old show Dinasaurs (I loved that show) and every week the TV science guy would inadvertantly blow up the kid who helped him and baby Dinasaur would say 'we're going to need another Timmy".
Anyway, what redeems that show is the humour. For me it's the announcer followed by Colin and Justin and their phrasing. This latest episode had me chuckling so much I watched it again just to listen to the voice over again. It does seem to indicate that C&J don't take themselves too seriously to allow the show to mock them they way it does. It's funny to see the workers getting to make their faces and comment too.
It really is one decorating show I could watch with audio only which I guess makes it more for entertainment than imparting any decor wisdom.
although I find them a little OTT at times. There's always so much 'drama' on their shows, and like most shows, I think that's because they've mismanaged the project and made some bad decisions from the start (like the white sofa they wanted for the single mother's home). And what's with the bouquet of flowers that Justin seems to wear on his lapel on the recent shows?
But they are funny to watch!
They are real designers, and I would say from what I have seen of them that the How Not to Decorate are the real guys coming out. They are real interior designers, but they are also a couple and have been together for about 20 years. I LOVE them , they are so funny and I love their designs.
