is there a color that you would love to use in paint or accessories but not sure your brave enough........or do you say the heck with it and go for the color regardless...........i was peaking through a magazine last night...and Kimberly Seldom was talking about pink and how to use even just a bit in a room of your choice....i love pink! and the suggestions for living room was a accent pillow, a throw over a chair, a pink vase.........love it! and they showed a pink accent pillow on a chocolate brown sofa. Im not sure if im brave.....so how brave are you?

I think the light in my home is partially to blame for my paint choices. I have an older home with fewer windows than most newer homes have, for one. Also, I find the lighting in my home leaves much to be desired. Still, I am working on ways to be a little more daring with colour. My family room has a strange wall that is placed like a partial divider between two areas, and it joins up with a 'box' on the ceiling that is drywall over the furnace venting. (those two things together divide the space) So, I am thinking of doing that wall/ceiling thing in a rather dark grey that I wouldn't normally use on walls in my dark house.

That's about as daring/brave I am for now.

i also went through times using lots of color on the walls but i like change in the rooms that i always sit in (living room..lol)........so now i prefer a neutral back drop or a color that allows me to change up accessories once in a while. I went from light cream to gold in that room and i love the warmth it gave the room but i still feel i can do alot with adding different colored accessories.....i love color but hate feeling stuck, if that makes sense! :D so i find i try to be more daring with accent colors.

I've had rooms painted a dark dark purple and blue before and in our last place i had red everywhere with our furniture. My friends were shocked not to see anything red in this place (or very little of it). Our dishes were even red. :) I think i just overdid it and now I'm pulling back completely. I'm not afraid of colour but i think i'll do it in more subtle ways now...but who knows...in a year i might be painting a whole room red. :)

Did you see Style Dept. last night they did a room in pink and I am not a pink person at all but the room did not look the least bit foo foo. The colour come over on my TV as more orange than pink but they kept calling it pink and I think it was the room they did that I like the best so far this year. I think with pink you have to make sure that it isn't little girl pink or bubblegum.BTW Janet I think you could use a little pink in your room and it would look great maybe a pillow that is striped.

I think it all has to be good taste. I have this plan if I ever bought my condo I'd paint the cupboards black and the walls kelly green.

Pink would look great with your new sofa janet but I think you have to be carefeul when you have a man living in your house not make it too foo foo.

My whole experimenting with orange in my living room seems a little bold. I've always been one for very subtle colors in the home, but am liking the bolder accents and/or wall colors that are popular now.

If you want to add some pink to your living room, I saw the most gorgeous cushion at HomeSense last week. It was green and pink striped silk with pink & green bead trim. I wanted to buy it, but I don't have a room that it would work in.

Look for it on your next trip to HomeSense :)

dustbunny hit on a good point, that it's not about being brave rather, not afraid. if you want to add a splash of the unexpected janet go for it...put your mark on the room...just don't forget to show us pics. :)

I'm brave or maybe it's not so much brave as not afraid. I've just never been afraid of colour I don't think. Possibly it came from when I lived in San Francisco and saw apts and homes that were done in colours I would never have previously dreamed of as being on walls. That city really impressed me with how much style and art it had and how people carried it into their homes. Mind you I also came out of art school and that could also be a big influence on not being afraid.

Besides I'm such a visually cued person that I need to have colours that involk something for me and generally that's me going after a mood or drama.

BTW I did pink in the 80's. Dark pink with my burgundy sofas. It looked great although some folks thought I was nuts until they actually saw it. YOu never know till your try.
