Does anyone have or has anyone seen a combination washer/dryer?? I first saw one on The Block a few weeks ago, when one of the couples put one in their bathroom.

If anyone knows anything about these machines, please share!!

My friend was also considering a combo until she read some reports on them. Apparently they are not good dryers & the clothing comes out very wrinkled up even after they are dry. Maybe the "Consumer Reports" website has more info. Good luck!

I have used the combos in Asia for the past 5 years. Had Indesit.
They are definetely not great on drying....pretty much "don't" dry....we had to purchase a stand alone dryer from US to dry our sheets, pillow cases, towels etc, especially cannot dry socks which are not a large item..they dry damp!!
But they are awesome washers, better than the North American ones in my world!....My European friends would still also purchase seperate dryers!
Hope that helps.

I read that the combos don't have great drying power. But I don't think that would be an issue, seeing as my dad would be the only one using it. He won't have 7 loads to do in a day!!

Thanks for everyone's input :)

The stackable w/d take up about the same floor space. I feel they would work well for any place where space is limited. They may be even larger inside then the combo w/d.

and my parents have one on their trailer ! try somewhere like Camping World or other trailer suppliers, mostly in US I think (parents got theirs shipped to Canada) and it was about $1000, maybe $1500.

I may be wrong (I know, doesn't happen often lol) but I don't think they dry as much as they can wash - that may have improved over the years though. We are looking at a washer and dryer combo for upstairs here, 24" wide, apartment style.

They are very common in the UK, and I know they have them in the US as well, as my cousin has one. Just make sure get an LG one, cos with all LG products, you get a 2yrs warranty. Our fridge, stove, and plasma TV are all LG

Just a thought

The one I saw on tv a few years ago was made by LG but it was about $1500 then, it looked awfully small too but hopefully they have advanced and come down in price since then, they're a great idea. I haven't actually seen one in a store though.

I found ones on the Net made by LG, GE, Toro, and Haier. The prices vary, but I found one that has a good review for about $800 US.

My dad wants a washer & dryer for the cottage, but I think the cottage is too small. At least a combo washer & dryer would take up less space, and maybe even fit under the counter in the kitchen, like the washers & dryers on all the British decorating shows.

What brand are they and who sells them? If they are energy efficient, it could be the answer for people with limited space. I've noticed them too on the British shows.

I too have a friend that has one.

While building their new home they lived in a large trailer already equipped with the combo.
They loved it, said it worked like a charm.

I first heard of this machine about 6 years ago when we were out for dinner with friends, one of whom had purchased one for her condo. Naturally I was in disbelief at first, as it sounded too good to be true. She did a lot of research before purchasing it, and told me that they are "big in Europe". What I remember most is she said you can't help but watch it with fascination when you first get it!

I think the space saving aspect of it is fabulous. I don't think I'm ready for something that newfangled just yet, though. :o
