On tonight's episode of reDesign, Kenneth Brown made a comment that really brings home what design is all about. He said that he presents design ideas that will bring the client out of his or her comfort zone. Then the objective is to reel it in just a little until the client is comfortable with the design, but still willing to try something new and different.
That really makes a lot of sense. People don't hire a designer to do what they would do. They hire a designer to do something that they wouldn't think of doing themselves. But they still want a design that they're comfortable with and can live with.
