Corner Fireplace

Hi there, I am moving to a new home in a few weeks and need some advice on how to arrange furniture in the living/family room.  The room has a corner fireplace that we had thought about putting the tv above?? Does anyone have any ideas for arranging furniture around this focal point?  Thank youJB

This is such a common dilemma!

Here are some tips for how high one should place the TV above his or her fireplace, if you choose to go that route: http://houseandhome.com/design/hanging-television

Also in the Ask A Designer section, someone once asked about decorating a corner fireplace and I found the answer useful for when it comes to placing objects on the mantel: http://houseandhome.com/mantel/corner-fireplace-mantel

Hope that helps!

As an aside, are you going to be using your current furniture in this new room? Perhaps you could share what types of seating and tables you have to work with, or whether you're considering new furniture. :)

Cheers,

Seema

You could place two arm chairs on either side of the fireplace facing  a coffee table at the centre then place a couch facing the fireplace on the other side of the coffee table. I would then place something behind the couch so it doesn’t just stand alone.
