cover pink marble fireplace surround

Hubby and I are re-painting and generally trying to modernize our main living space. I have a pink marble fireplace surround that I am trying to find a creative (read, cheap) way to camoflauge. Replacing the marble is not an option at this time due to financial constraints, so I am hoping someone has found a creative way to alter the look. Thanks

Well the one thing you have to ensure is whatever you use is fireproof. Quick and easiest in my mind would be going and getting some mirror or opaque glass cut to fit and just sticking it over the pink. A glass cutting shop could cut you three pieces with rounded edges (so no need to trim) and tell you what glue to use. The other option could be some metal panels which a sheet metal shop could cut for you and with all the types and various finishes that could give you a very sleek look. I'm not sure how expensive it would be since it would depend on the type of metal.

a member here used Hardrock by Beautitone (Home Hardware) in her bathroom and it looks amazing.

Why would anyone in their right mind choose pink for something so permanent as a fireplace surround? Rhetorical question.
I suppose you could paint it out with a fire resistant product. I might buy some ceramic tiles and stick them on top.
