I was just watching on the Foodnetwork " Fixing Dinner" and she claims you can put a completely frozen roast in the Crock Pot add Beef Broth and Cream Soup and set it and come home to a cooked Roast. Has anyone tried using frozen meat in their Crock Pot I always use defrosted meat. This would make things so easy.

This morning I put a frozen roast in the crockpot before coming to work. I love coming home to a house that smells like food - let you know how it turns out.
The things we learn on this site amaze me and DH says I am just wasting my time here is he ever wrong.
Jeep, you're not the only one -- I didn't know you could cook a roast from frozen in a crock pot!! Now we know :)
Man you guys are so much smarter than me i always defrost everything and i use mine alot. I have had a crockpot for 30 years and never used anything frozen in it. This will save me so much planning I can't believe I have never heard of this before.
do it all the time...usually cuz i forget to take it out of the freezer the nite before....turns out fine...i cook it the same way i would when i remember to take my roast out of the freezer
I put a frozen beef roast in at 7:30 a.m. on low, and it is done when I get home from work. I use beef broth as the liquid.
I also do the same with a frozen pork loin roast, except I toss in a can of cranberry sauce - yummy.
Cooked it about 2 hrs on high and then low for the balance of the time. I add beef broth not water. Actually I think it would have been just fine done on low for the whole cooking though.
When you did the roast would you set it on high and leave it or turn it down after a while.
used frozen minced beef and a small beef roast right from ther freezer. The results came out just fine, I could not tell the difference. There are liners for crock pots now, no messy clean ups. :)
But I think it's worth a shot. I will try it next week and let you know the results.
