For all the do-it-yourselfers, my husband and I want to install crown moulding in our bedroom. It's our first house and we are not too handy. Anyways we went to Home depot this morning to get a start on it to find out it would cost $200 for the room. Now the money is not a problem but I am afraid we are goign to spend the $200.00 and screw up or not be able to do it.
my questions is: how hard of a project is this for a beginner or does anyone know of a good installer who we could pay to do this?
Thanks

Crown moulding can be really difficult especially since most rooms are not square. If you are painting the finished product, small imperfections are easy to conceal with paintable silicone. Real wood mouldings should be left to those with some experience as mistakes are quite costly.
truly the hardest part for a novice is to cut the angles correctly...however, if you don't mind to spend a bit more & assure yourself of not having any problems you can purchase pieces that join the strips. They hae ones for the corners & those that connect the pieces on a straight run. With these in use I say you CAN DO IT!! We have always used both no more nails & nails...because of our "inexperience" we guarantee ourselves success if we miss any studs:) Good Luck!
