well i pretty much got skunked...i didnt hang most of them as i didnt like the color of the reds....the only color i liked was the olive green but dont really care for the panel itself....sorry jen...the red isnt a go, im so done with the red, out of my mind it is :D now im liking the olive green as it pulls the colors from my art above the sofa, where as the red isnt drawing from anything.....so the verdict is...the plaid and olive green are my favs, but still have to get it right yet...im going to try some other olive green panels....they look greyish in the picture but the pic on the ottomon it shows more of the olive green

i totally agree the blind is distracting and i think that is why a pattern looks better as it takes from it....however im hoping when the new curtain rod goes up that may help to distract it somewhat....i agree cat, i would need two on each side but just brought the two home to try them out....itsjustme...silly girl when honesty comes from good intent i dont hate, well i dont hate anyway, i may dislike but not hate  how boring would life be if we just all agreed. I think the only reason that i have liked the plaid is because it is a pattern that was suttle, but i would have to agree, the brown makes them look even more like they would be suited in a teens room. So far i like the grommet ones the best...but that could change as im always on the look :D
tryntodecorate....the only solution i could come up with, is a side panel in color and then cream sheers in between to cover the blind...but i would have to see it done to know if i like it or not. Decorguy suggested a fitted sheer to hide the blind...........decorguy or anyone, what is a fitted sheer and how do they hang? :D

Janet, I'm not sure about those plaid ones now you've reposted them. They remind me of teenage bedroom curtains. Don't hate me, ok?
The grommet ones might work, but I'm finding the colour too light, and if you're going for grommets, you will need another extra panel on each side so the top doesn't flatten out, grommets look good if zigzagged on top, even when pulled closed. You should sew the two panels together.
I would look for curtains that are close to the colour of your cushions (and the cat scratch pole! :D)
janetc...
I still like the plaid( slightly more country/eclectic) but the cream with grommets is really nice too and( modern) ...you need a chunkier rod though.... ...I think the white blind is more of the problem...I know you are saving for one day having maybe a wood blind.....which I think would make the window more appealing........I don't think the problem is the panels....I really get distracted by the white mini blinds.....but until you can change the blind....the cream grommet is modern and suits the room........I would go for that.............................................................. :D
P.S Can you take the blind down...and just close the panels at night for privacy?.............................
yea i kinda got a theory like that...if i can't sleep in in the morning....NO ONE DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!
good im glad to hear it..... i was hoping! i figure if im batty then everyone should be :D

good LORD woman!!!...you did that a LONG time ago :D
itsjustme...thats okay i didnt have kids home today...but it was still hectic, i swear everytime i sat down to relax here i was called away
janinvan.........my new rod is metal and much thicker and the woman said its the newest one out, the color is called sienna which looks like brown to me...aaah too bad i didnt live closer
born2shop....im so relieved to hear that im not the only one going crazy :hairpull: no wonder i just lived with sheers all these years...curtain shopping in my area is brutal
decorguy, well i bought a pair of what looks like pinch pleated but no hooks just fabric hooks that the rod runs through...very cool and nice curtains but the cream turned out to be too yellow
I have also bought a pair of cream with brown suttle flicks and grommets, i do like these......but of course bear in mind the new rod still isnt up
so my update is this
pic #1 panel decorguy suggested...other side grommet panel...........
pic #2... is of just the grommet panels
pic #3.... grommet ones
pic #4 plaid again, which i have re ordered because im trying something different with them....decorguy gave me the idea...im going to add cream sheers beside them to hide the blind
the new rod goes up tomorrow
so this is my thoughts..........so far i like the grommet ones and the plaid the best...so have i drove you all totally batty yet :hairpull:

Boy, I feel your pain with the curtain dilemma. I have been looking for drapes my LR/DR and can't settle on anything either. I'm not sure what my problem is. For what it's worth, I quite like the plaid ones that you had up!! I think you will know in your heart when you find the right ones - good luck!
IJM....all I can say is I can relate... mine are 3 and 5 as well :hairpull: go have a drink from the special bottle in the closet upstairs like I do ;)
Janet - just in case the jury doesn't approve, can you post a picture of your new curtain rod and the size & width. Is it metal or wood? We wouldn't want you to put that up and have to take it down. I don't think they allow returns on used curtain rods.
Too bad you aren't nearby. I have some never used Kirsh rods to put in my garage sale if I ever have it. We also have a training school/clearance outlet for Sears curtains here. Fantastic prices, just no returns unless they're defective. I've bought curtains that I haven't even put up. LOL. I can't turn down a good sale.
oh gees, it must be Friday, because Janet's curtain orders have arrived! :D
I have no clue and can't help you out today. My brain is frazzled and I need a strong tea and a break from the two hooligans I brought into this world!
You will not believe how badly behaved they were today at the shops. omg! I took them to McDonalds, out of desperation to let them run some energy off at the playarea, and while I was waiting to order in a very busy line, I cast my eyes to check on the boys who were supposed to be sitting quietly and behaving. Well, they were throwing a paper ball to the teenages eating their lunch and using words like 'stinky b*tt' and 'poo-poo b#tt'! omg, my two were just horrible today! And might I add they are only 3 and 5 years old! :hairpull:
So maybe by Monday I would have recovered!
A heavier half rod so the drapes don't hit the space heater......also makes your window appear larger than it is.
Just came across this in a mag -- so thought I'd send it your way. I'm going to keep looking but have some appts. this aft. for work.......but it's the weekend so I'll have more time to do some checking for you, Janet. :) I scanned the picture but can't get in on here so click on this and have a look

the mock up that Decorguy just did. The neutral is so fresh!
that looks so pretty....so what if i put the drapes as side panels and sheers in between as i know DH wont get rid of the blind but it would hide them pretty good....love to switch to gas  someday, but we will likly sell before that happens  thank you, that is what i have been wanting, but i couldnt get past that blind too....mmm now this is an idea

ok....heres an idea....convert to gas heat :) and pull that heater out
heres one idea then I have a call to make for work.... I also added fitted sheers and got rid of the mini blinds...can u do that? oh and maybe a tad darker on the drapes.
this is a truer picture....this is exactly how the room looks right at this moment :) so this may be of better help

Those are the ones I'm talking about -- I really like how they hang -- they can be a casual look -- or formal depending on the room they're in -- don't you think?? I'm not that keen on the idea of red drapes for your room. But I want to look at your picture a little more (thanks for posting it!) -- don't buy anything right this MINUTE!!!! I have a bit of work to do -- and then I'll be back. G
i will check on there too.............thank you
smiles
janetc
Where do you live? I'm flexible -- I can leave work early -- I'll swing by and pick you up!!
are you talking the green ones that pearl posted from jcpenny...if so that is the ones i like too and that is what i had pictured looking for this weekend

I went on a minor search trying to figure out where you would be able to comfortably order from. Have you checked out TSC? They have some nice solid velvet ones on sale right now and these burn out ones (so they are a little sheer). They are green (I think that could be a good colour direction and you can still incorporate red in the room if you like), kind of funky. I'll attach one picture but you can see them better on the site where you can zoom in. They seem to look better in zoom and the more I looked at them, the more they are growing on me.
i dont find any over the weekend i may have to just take you up on that offer  and there is no way DH is going to allow me to start ordering from out of town...im in enough trouble...........galye here is the living room that you asked for ...not the best color, the walls are not really that bright
smiles
janetc
I'd like to cast another vote.
Am I allowed???
I vote for the JC Penny ones.
I'M IN!!!!!
Yup -- that's it!!!!!!! An intervention............god, I'm cracking up here. You guys are all too funny. I think I'd better leave work and go shopping for you, Janet. And tell you what. If you LOVE any of the Ikea choices that sparkplug gave you -- let me know and I'll pick them up for you and mail them. Or jenjen and I will meet up -- buy some that we LOVE -- mail them and then go for drinks. I'm kind of liking that idea -- what's your vote, jen?? :biglol:
and when my neighbour was over, we both felt that a softer green than these hideous ones would likely be nice......she has a good eye too and felt the same as me that the red isnt doing it.......trust me ladies i had no intentions of keeping the parlor ones, just wanted to show you the color
smiles
janetc
now those i like...that is more the style i would go with.....and i could likely get those in a store around here
smiles
janetc
This is a pretty green and the walls are the same colour as yours. Soft and calming colour. Good old JC Penney and the prices are good.
was my worry too....wondering if the green is not going to sit....but the darn creams and such just dont do it.....i may have those plaid ones yet
