Daisies lost their heads

I am new to gardening, I planted 2 pink daisy plants this spring, and they were thriving, but we (in Montreal) have been getting a lot of rain. The heads have fallen off the flowers, but the plants are still green.

Whats causing it?
How can I alleviate the problem?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Brendan

Are they daisies, or are they pink Coneflowers? Either way, just deadhead them, maybe they will bloom again for you, otherwise hold thumbs for next year to be warmer and dryer.

I basically have given up on my garden for this year. Too much rain and not enough warmth. I may still pick up some bargain perennials at the plant store and drop them in and dream of next summer.

Me, too. My only flowering perrineals that are doing well are my hydrangeas. My beebalm this year were pitiful. They are in their second bloom and the flowerheads look sparse -- not full at all like last year.

My garden of perennials is a mess - too much rain and humidity is causing bloom rot and mildew on the flower heads.

I live outside of Quebec city and we too have been inundated with rain. I just think it is a bad summer and since this is a new plant I think you may just have to wait until next year to really enjoy your daisies. One thing to remember though is, don't throw away the flower without removing the seed heads. Rub the seed head between your fingers and be sure to let the seeds fall in the ground around your plant. That way you will still profit next year from a larger amount of flowers.
