OK..this is not going to be your average "decorating" question but here it goes...
We recently purchased a swimming pool and we are having a tough time deciding on the shade of blue for the vinyl liner. I know this sounds silly but apparently there are greyish tones, greenish blue tones, meditteranean tones...etc. When we were shown the liners in the store, I got dizzy and told them that I had to think about it. It was hard to make a descision on a product that was not in a pool in daylight. Anyway, your thoughts and/or opinions are greatly appreciated. Here's the brochure for the pool liners:

We chose the Kafko liner Caribbean Tile with Blue floor. Wish we would have chosen the patterned Blue Coral floor...
We went through Purewater (they have branches in Bells Corners and Manotick) to have our pool liner replaced, and they were really terrific. We also shopped around for pool liners, and because we bought a pool heater at the same time (a previous year's model) they gave us a good discount. Prior to the liner replacement we had complications over a leak in the pool, so if you ever want the dirty details, I'll fill you in (but probably on another website!) The liner we bought was a Kafko as well.
Are you looking for info on full pool installations?
i just noticed you are in ottawa. who did your pool? were you happy? thanks for the feedback.
In response to the question of dark blue vs. light blue pool liner, I think it's a matter of choice. We have a light blue liner, and in retrospect I would have put in a darker blue. Our backyard gets full sun, and a deep blue liner would have looked great. As it is, the lighter blue looks terrific as well -- just go with your preference.
Also, if you go vinyl liner and you choose a patterned blue liner, light blue or dark blue?
We are also in the process of picking a pool for our backyard. Anyone have any experience/feedback with regard to fibreglass pools?
Welcome Mr Decor - you choice a great topic as your first post and I enjoyed your feedback. Although we don't have a poo, friends do and I agree with Mr Decor on both points - go blue and go with a pattern. It also helps to hide the bits of leaves, twigs etc and you don't have to vacumn as often!
It's my first time responding on the forum after "lurking" for a few weeks, but your posting was one I couldn't resist responding to. We just replaced our pool liner two years ago and went through the same dilemma you're facing now. Words of advice:
--blue is the best option for the liner, and in our experience, the more blue it is, the better it looks. It makes the water look more inviting and fresh. A liner with green or beige in it make the water look, well, scummy. Who wants to swim in water with a greenish cast? Neighbors have it and their pool just doesn't have the same visual appeal.
--go for a patterned bottom. We chose a flat blue colour, and now regret it. A pattern on the bottom will help mask any small bits of dirt or imperfections that your pool will get over time, whereas a solid colour (especially a lighter colour) will show them.
Hope it all works out!
