Hi,
I have a large teak wall unit that does not go with my espresso brown furniture. It has a great shape and I'd like it to match the rest of my furniture. I've seen several shows where they've used antique wax in chocolate brown to darken wood furniture. Does anyone have any experience with a particular product or any other tips for darkening this piece of furniture? Thanks!

Gee, three posts in one night :-)
Here's a link I had bookmarked - it has info about stains.

Oh, sorry, I missed the whole point of that question...
About the wax - there are several wax stains on the market - I can't think of the names right off the top of my head but if you go to the home improvement store, and ask for a "staining wax" or a "wax that you use to penetrate wood", they should be able to help you out. I'm pretty sure that Thompsons makes one, too.
My understanding is that yes, you can stain teak wood. Teak has a lot of natural oils in it which is what makes it last forever outside. But you can stain it. If it were me, I would find the colour you wanted, and try to stain a very inconspicuous place on the tv stand - maybe the bottom of a foot or along the bottom edge where nobody will see it if you don't like it. I would think to try a walnut or something in the "brown" family, rather than something with a red tint, even though Teak has a naturally occuring red tint. Good luck.
