Day off

HHassist's picture
HHassist

So many of us are online! I have a little decorating project for this day off from work - I am completing a paint job on my garden doors, which will soon be a nice dark brown. Despite my predilection for white walls, the door area was too white: White walls, white trim, white doors, white blinds.

What is everyone else doing?

......there is not one single person on this forum that would turn away from you during this anguished time. You are in the middle of a circle of very supportive and loving friends.

You are a well loved forum friend. I am a mother. Many of us are mothers. Those who are not mothers, are daughters, or sons. We can all understand your love for your daughter.

I know you are a real person, for all my jokes about my imaginary friends. I only regret that you have real worries.

I have enjoyed conversing with you since our early chats about your visit to Alberta - you have shared your gardening knowledge and your quick wit. Don't apologize to me. I am so sorry that you are living with this fear for your precious daughter. I am sorry you feel isolated in your worry. I am glad that you have, at least, this place to express your heartache.

For my part Norm, I would be honoured to be a friend to you at this moment in your life. I have enjoyed the pleasure of your friendship at those more carefree moments and I would not, for a heartbeat, turn away that friendship at this frightening moment. Norm, if you have more you need to say about this, on the forum or elsewhere, I would be glad to be "here" or there, for you.

I am thinking of you. Imagine a warm hug across the miles, from one mother to another.

I jst wanted to say I find you always so eloquent & elegant:) As for your daughter my prayers are with you. Not to take away from your absolute right to worry, I just thought I'd share with you a couple of things. Friends of mine (3 to be exact) & 4 with me have been "diagnosed" with MS... 2 of them & now myself have been "undiagnosed" of it...there are many syndromes less terrifying that mimic MS...persevere & if I could just pass on a hint given to me by a fantastic physician..."do not let them throw that label on you easily". It seems all too easy when symptoms pop up to assume this is what we have...especially as women:) AND if it is MS, I hope I can provide you with a glimmer of light..my dear friend who in fact has it has lead a wonderful product life, including children & work...there are great strides being made everyday to help with MS. I wish you & your daughter all the best health life can offer. Have faith & don't give up the search for answers. Hugs.

I can imagine how terribly worried you must be. My sister was once tentatively diagnosed with MS, and it was later discovered that she simply had a virus. She recovered entirely. I hope you get some good news very soon.

I will add you and your daughter to my prayers.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter :( Please keep us updated on her condition. I hope she's OK.

I hope I didn't make you feel bad by my comment about being angry. I myself should have thought first that maybe there was a reason why you reacted the way you did. We all are guilty of talking first and thinking second at times!!

I was at Michael's today also, around 1:00. Were you there, did I accidentally catch a lick of you as you went by?

I loove your office. I can see you've been analy measuring everything on the bookcase so there is not one bit of wasted space. If I were to come into the room and move the basket on the right, over 1", would you notice?

I spent the day with a friend & my DS shopping...hit Michaels, & the superstore...WOW were the stores busy. Michaels was packed, christmas stuff EVERYWHERE, now I'm starting to get excited:D Oh & I purchased a couple of "ice" trees, either for my mantle or on top of dining room sconces...

I love the changes - I didn't think it was possible for that office to look any better but it does!

Hey, how can you be on line at the same time I am?

Here is a picture of "my" star light. It is still in Artsy's office, right where she put it! Isn't it beautiful?

That's the perfect picture for today.

I absolutely love your fabric. I like all of your decorating choices though, I think I am your "number one fan"! Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures, too. You have a great eye.

I have attached a picture of my completed project. The area is still a little "bare", but less so than when it was simply an expanse of white. You can see the hulking form of my own big dog just outside the garden doors.

It's totally not fair that only government workers get today off :( But, I guess it could be worse -- we're not one of the thousands of soldiers who we have Remembernace Day for.

You want to hear something sad?? Well, not sure if it's sad, but I'll put it out there and you can decide. Apparently, Rememberance Day is the biggest shopping day of the year in Canada. And judging by all the cars on the roads and the the overflowing Costco parking lot, I believe it.

If you're lucky enough to have the day off, I hope you spend a bit of your time off at a Rememberance Day ceremony or commemorating our soldiers in some way....

....from groceries. I'm actually planning to decorate my livingroom mantle. That'll probably take me till 2 in the morning, as I place, step back place, step back, like I'm waltzing myself back and forth.

You know where that bad doggie belongs - in the dog house. I have a lab/malamute cross who has been known to eat off the counter if I turn my back. Once, I left the room for a heartbeat and when I returned she had eaten an entire coffee cake!

Has anyone ever called you a little smarty pants? I am sure that shoe fits, and you wear it well!.

Caro - I love "vicarious decorating". I am sitting here wishing you would all post pictures of your projects for me to "ooh and aah". Are you able to oblige?

Blue Devil - Poor you. Overtime pay, so sad!

Norm - I am so jealous that you can still garden! Most of the snow has melted, but not enough for me to feel up to mucking about. Don't forget your forum duty to post pictures.

Ditto for you mmcormi - you owe it to us to show us your blinds. Silk plaid sounds fabulous. Good luck!

Suzie - don't forget about the Three Tenors. Your life is not complete until you have heard Pavorotti sing "Ave Maria". Even if you wouldn't consider walking into a church, even if you are not christian, you will love this song.

Have you ever heard of that prohibition against "telling tales out of school"? Now, go look for the "delete" key! Bad girl!

My doors look good so far, thank you very much!
