OK

Ouch.............let's see yours then eh :biglol:
Personally, I don't see why anyone would think they aren't yours. The pictures are your typical crappy amateur photos. No artistry and no sense of the golden triangle. Completely lacking in interesting details, shades or light. So yes, your typical amateur photos.
And yes.....the pics are mine :biglol:
PLease go back and read my post, I never said I have never been there, I just said it's not for me, although I have been there before.
You see, so it's evident that people misread posts :applaud:
feeding the fish while ona bottom walk. Great people, scenery , food and fun! :)
Seems some people are bitter about these pictures from what am reading elsewhere  Who doesn't like travel pictures, perhaps I should add my FRANCE ones as well :D
It's ok to sneak in on the pics luv
Nice

We still to travel more, next stop MACHU PICHU, and NEPAL, but NEPAL will have to wait for now, with all the troubles going on there now
I'll take Marrakech and Namibia over the west indies any day, and that is just me.
I don't know ... there are a lot of beautiful places in the world that I'd love to see and don't set my criteria on whether they're the classiest locals - but I do like to go to places and attempt to see them in ways many tourists wouldn't. For example, I love to eat in restaurants that locals eat in - I think you get a more authentic experience then.
I wish I could still travel, as I seemed to do in my 20's. I stayed places for months, shopped in local markets, lived meagre (or more, if I were lucky) and saw things that most tourists don't get the opportunity to see, because they just don't have the time.
nice pics Jainey...............Like I always say to the wife, I'll rather take one nice, decent, classy trip to Europe, once every 2 years, than take a trip to the US, or the west indies.
I have never seen the fascination with Cuba and all those places, even though I have been there before.
love to go back - it saddens me that it has been so long. I exchange emails and cards with a cousin - but really, time goes too fast. Something else always comes up. This year we're off to Alberta for much of August - it will be fantastic, but Denmark does beckon. Spring is a common time to think of it too - somehow I remember the spring buds being much greener than they are here - of course, it could just be some specific species - or just the longing memory.
To connect up with decorating - I had the fantastic fortune to live in some wonderful residences while I was there. This was one of my favorites... I was there for three months - in spring.
The house and it's view...
It was the first time for the wife going there, but I have been before numerous times

I took my picture in 1991! Ack!!!
Which is probably why I totally forgot that it was Kronborg in Helsingor - of course!!!! Thanks ManoloWitch. I loved visiting that castle - I think it was my favorite - I even did a watercolour picture of two lovebirds looking out one of the wavy glassed windows.
Welcome to the forum Mwitch :D I like to call the pic below, Copenhagen's version of ABBEY ROAD London

The castle is actually called Kronborg. It's in Helsingør.
Amelieborg is nice, but I preferred Fredericksborg - supposed to be the inspiration castle for Hamlet. Oh pooh - It could be Christiansborg castle I'm thinking of - geez- it's been too long!! I especially liked how close it was to Sweden, it was like you could just walk there. I loved Rosenborg - especially that it was just the king's summer place. That's where they keep the crown jewels - did you get there?
Kobenhavn is lovely, but you should get over to Fyn - the chalk cliffs are breathtaking - or even pop over on the ferry to Jutland. I lived in Aarhus for a year and loved, loved walking that city. Beautiful cathedral, with loads of little streets to explore. I always think you know you've been someone long enough to blend, when tourists start asking you if you speak English and they want directions.
Geez glas - you're making my ancestral roots get all homesick!!
Do you notice how the surrounding behind the MERMAID has changed since you took that pic? :)

Thanks........It's a yardstick that I use, when comparing other cities, Toronto and Ottawa, and Vancouver don't even come close :biglol: :biglol:
Talking of Sweden, we took this on a street in MALMO

A little bit of more fun,

I always plan our trips, and map out all that we wish to see. I have always been like this, even before I got married. I am not one for those group tours, I like to se what I want, when I want, not what someone else wants me to see at a certain time.
My trip to Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, all over the US was also done like this.
is fun...it's very much what I imagine theme park were before Disney changed everyone's mind. It's funny because my grandmother talked to me so much about Tivoli before I went that I had a really spectacular picture in my head of what it would be like. So, I hate to say I was disappointed - but it wasn't as spectacular for me, as I'm sure it was for her, in her memory. The fireworks were nice.
Did you go on the tour inside Christiansborg? Our tour guide was so "rude" - We were with my cousin and their little boy and he didn't speak english, but my danish was really rusty so we went on the english tour. My cousin was quietly translating for her son and suddenly the guide started having this really snotty conversation with my cousin about her translating. It was funny because it was the other tourists who put him in his place, said that they weren't bothered at all and that of course it made sense for the little boy to know what was going on.
All my pictures are packed away - I may be inspried to go digging.
I agree with your comments about having to live somewhere to really get the feel for it - although my family is from Denmark, unless I had actually lived there, as I did, I would never have felt the longing for it that I do. It really was like going home, the people just looked familiar to me and once the language became part of my thoughts, it was like I had always been there.
Stroget..........towards the Tivoli Gardens

I have a better picture of the Mermaid, but we are in it, each of us, and it looks a lot better than the one I posted. We pretty much walked everywhere, and hopped on buses using the day passes.
I went to everywhere you mentioned, include the pic below which am sure you recognize

The little mermaid - too bad the light wasn't in the right place, she does have a sweet face. I can't get over how close she is in the water - when I was there, some Swedes had hopped over and were taking turns kissing her lips. There are a lot of fantastic sculptures in that park - I like the one with the oxen.
Amelieborg is nice, but I preferred Fredericksborg - supposed to be the inspiration castle for Hamlet. Oh pooh - It could be Christiansborg castle I'm thinking of - geez- it's been too long!! Just to give you an example of house prices in London. My condo that I have now LEASED out in the mean time, is DOCKLANDS ( or CANARY WHARF ) of London, and that is in the EASTEND.
This is where most people started off way back in the days, and that then once they made their money, they moved to CENTRAL LONDON, W1 area code, or NW.
The docklands used to be old warehouses, and a lot of them have now been turned into LUXURY flats, with prices like you won't believe. See for youself how much FLATS go for

You can be in central London in 30mins, on the DLR ( docklands light railway ), with a wicked view of the river. That is a trip I made for years, because I can't take my car into central London, we have a congestion fee charge
