Besides H&H -- What decorating/design shows do you love? Or do you have shows you think are a total waste of time?
I really like House Doctor on W, In A Fix and Clean Sweep on TLC and Neat on HGTV. I'm always amazed at how much stuff people keep and how they don't seem to be fazed by it at all. I love the reveals.
I like Debbie Travis' Fracelift, Candice Olsen's show, the Designer Guys and I love Sarah Richardson's too.
I'll watch Trading Spaces when there's nothing else on, but I feel -- "been there, done that".
There are a few shows on HGTV I find completely boring - Trash to Treasure, Decorating on a Dime, Landscape and Designer Challenges -- I like to gleen some sort of information from them, and the times I've watched them it's just the same old stuff. I felt I learned nothing from them.
I hate to say it but I miss Martha!
Oooh -- one more thing, I like that show Buy Me -- where do they find these people? They want caboodles of money for their homes but don't want to do any of the cosmetic repairs.

today there was a couple on Hot Property that won a modern flat ...
agreed...unless they are living there (in the neighbourhood) and have someone in real estate, how could they possibly guess within 1000 pounds? Thats a long shot for sure...but would sure keep the costs of producing the show down..and for sure they need the services of Ann Maurice...wonder if shes doing any NEW shows?
when the young couple lost? Sometimes those Brits go a little too far. I'd much rather Selling Houses as well, Apartment 42.
saw that new show yesterday that took the spot of Selling Houses Wednesday night. I want Selling Houses back.
Hot properties has a couple view 3 houses via video and guess the price of the house they want. If the are within $1000 they win. So who sets the houses prices? The concept seems stupid.
I think they should have had Ann Maurice come over and fluff some of the houses for sale because they had real bow wow decor.
no I dont remember that...there was SO much to see...but its all a compound so I bet there are a few rooms like that...am sure she wanted it like that, because anything less that perfection wont do...maybe it was to keep it private from the rest of the house?? am sure she has lots of houseguests
I think her house in Mexico shows her wild side. It's gorgeous, so much character. And talk about old world charm. Do any of you remember her bedroom however, did you have to gain access to it from the courtyard? I don't know if I like the thought of having to go outside to get to my bedroom.
wasnt it tho.?..and she had bought the adjoining property as well...the one in San Fran wasnt too shabby either...whatever she touches turns to gold...I just love watching her
She was an interior designer turned real estate agent before House Doctor scooped her up.
She has two grown daughters and grandchildren (if you can imagine!) I believe she married as well.
I loved the episodes where they showed her homes. The one in Mexico was amazing.
if only!! LOL
yeah that would do it!!!!...she's never mentioned any family of her own has she? She says "we" the odd time...wonder if she could afford both homes on her own???
Maybe she's hoping to "redesign" Alistair.
Maybe that's why Ann Maurice is so crabby.
yep I KNEW it!!! Well his partner is a lucky guy...
You know it was somewhere deep in the back of my mind that he might be gay. He's just soooo pretty.
I got addicted to House Doctor while visiting a friend in England last year. I love Ann Maurice, she is very Simon Cowell-ish -- but what planet do these people live on. You try to sell your house with your dirty laundry hanging around - hello!!
Alistair is 33 or 34, he's done a quite a few tv shows, besides Cash in the Attic and House Doctor, he's really an actor, and I believe he's also been in a movie. Unfortunately ladies, he's gay and in a long term relationship.
They are trying to sell the house, aren't they. If it is smelly and dirty and horribly decorated, they need her help! And why do they care if they are selling?! Get over it! I love her, and of course he's adorable!!!
shoot typed a response and my ISP kicked me off...as I was saying...imagination is a wonderful thing
but also wanted to defend Ann Maurice...they ASK for her help then argue with her advice...if they are so smart why dont they fix it themselves so it will sell? Many are slobs and the dirt is disgusting...cant blame her for being snotty sometimes...I would take her advice anytime to sell my home ...and I bet they figure she and her team will do all the work
Believe me, in my imagination he's very definately not gay!!!!
can u blame her?? I would drool over him too...wonder if he's gay?
yeah thats the one...actually just watched it...lotsa neat things
By the way that British antique show you were refering to is called Cash in the attic.
You can tell she has a bit of the hots for him. She can be so mean with some of the homeowners but sweets as pie with the host with the most! lol
I really think she's Simon Cowell's evil twin. She seems to take some kind of perverse joy in putting down people's homes. Notice how she changes her tone when talking to Alistair. She's ooey, gooey, smiley. I bet if she went to his house and found smelly socks and underwear in the sink, she wouldn't say a word.
I was watching House Doctor last night and I was more interested in watching him than looking at the houses! He is a cutie...and that accent! The woman is a bit grouchy though isen't she?
I watch that too, only problem is I watch too much of him and not enough of the items being auctioned off. How much do you think he would go for?
have u ever noticed he also does that British antique show where they find stuff in the attic and sell it at auction to get extra money for things they want? He's good on that too...
I love that guy Alistair Appleton from the House Doctor. He's a real cutie, beautiful blue eyes and those dimples. He's the UK version of our Steven Sabados. I think there should be a show with both of them called Dueling Dimples.
u took the words right out of my mouth...
I don't like that show Open Homes.
The designers & the two guys as judges just annoy me.
Love the Designers Guys. Chris just cracks me up and Stephen always looks like he's ignoring Chris' outlandish comments.
I love House Doctor & Selling Houses. Funny how all the good design shows start off being British and we copy them. eg Changing Rooms, my all time fav. Designers are real, unlike Hildi who I'd like to drive over with a truck. Love Vern.
I use my work computer to surf, and it's not good to have the internet block come up! My boss may start to think I have a secret desire to visit porn sites! LOL
