You actually have a blessing in disguise. All those worms are "depositing" some of the best fertilizer going - at no cost to you! Many people pay good money for worm castings. The little slimers are aerating the soil for you as well. In spring when the birds are abundant again, you'll probably find little holes all over the place. These are the "early birds" doing -using their beaks to dig for lunch. More free aeration.
Collecting dew worms for your local bait supplier is another option. Just tell them about your fishfood and they may even come to collect them. I've heard of kids making some good cash that way.
Any pesticides you might apply would kill everything - birds, bees and butterflies [harmful to people as well].
Learn to wear shoes outside all the time, or... you are bigger than they are and I've yet to hear.."When Worms Attack!!"
