I'm on my way to WW tonight!! I had found a couple of nice suits this afternoon (nice Jones New York) on sale, but when I tried them I was up another size.... Didn't like that too much! So tonight's the night!!!
I'll be back at the classes. I felt really good about my weight a couple of years ago, and felt that I was in control. Then about a year ago, my mother died and I was working on the 'project from hell'. I really lost control and I gained about 20 pounds or so. I've decided that I'll go back to the classes. Right now, I'm not travelling for my job, so I'm in the city and the timing is good. Plus I have nothing to wear! I do not intend to start buying clothes for a bigger body - I have a really nice wardrobe, if I can just fit into it!
Would you believe that I didn't go to WW last night. I got busy doing up my windows boxes for fall and my daughters wanted us to make a witch for the front entrance, by the time we got that done, it was passed 8H30.
But I did take out the point books and started this morning.
Are you following the no point system?? At least I'll be on some type of program until next week...
Hope you have a successfull week!
last night. My 1st goal is to lose 15 lbs. I would like to almost be there by Christmas. Measuered my cereal this morning. I was eating about 3 servings at a time for breakfast before! Wish me luck!
Well here we go again....who doesn't have a tummy bulge after kids . I think sit ups is suppose to work or the abs exercises you see those thin lean muscular people advertising. Abs buster or something. I notice you never see a person over weight or over 25 demonstrating though.
So who really knows.
Anyone have any good "food plans/exercises anything to help the "tummy" bulge. I've lost the pounds but still have the above-the waist bulge-hangover!!
35 pds. after I was in a slump for awhile, things picked up.
Norm I will look for the chronmium, niacin, B6 stuff. Thank you.
My daughter likes WW too. They have taken away the points system now. When I lose some more on Atkins I will switch to WW as I have 2 cookbooks never used. I want to buy a treadmill, have never had one. Do you have any suggestions of do's and dont's in buying one. Thanks very much.
WW this week with a couple of girls from work that have had alot of success with it. One of them lost 24 and the other lost 28. They slacked off a little over the summer but they're right back at it again only having gained a few pounds of what they had taken off. I'm really excited about starting it. I like the idea that you can still eat normal food but you just have to count the points. I have a treadmill so I'm going to work it into my nightly routine that I go on it from 7:30-8:00 after the baby has gone to bed. I figure since I have people to go to the weekly meetings with I'll be more motivated to actually go!
I'll let you know how it goes!
did you go to the WW meeting last nite. If so, what do u think of the new program? I haven't seen it or heard anyone's thought on it. i did well with the points in the past, but fell off when i stopped going to meetings & tried it on my own. good luck!
I'll be honest with you, I can't get in the grove at all. I have no will power! I'm going to go to WW tonight to see what that new program is all about. I'll let you know how I make out.
what is the shake /green thing ?
I have hit a plateau and lost nothing in a week, gained nothing either. I have to buy a treadmill as I cannot swim now...too cccc old.
I find if I buy the small wraps (few carbs) and stuff it with meat, cheese, vegs I am full. Also stir fry lots of stuff. Also make soups stuffed with vegs, + chicken or beef or shrinp. Keep me posted.
I am in Atkins hell. I really hate this whole dieting thing, I have tried WW before, and although it worked, I was working out like a crazy woman at the gym 6 days a week at the time (wasn't working). But I have no time for that. I have tried Atkins earlier in the year and got some pretty good results, but went back to my old habits. So now, I'm back at her! I just need to give myself an attitude adjustment, and I'll be okay. Can you give me any tips that worked for you? I need to keep myself in the 'zone'. This shake and green drink thing sounds good, because my biggest thing is that I'm hardly eating anything, because nothing is apealing to me. I know doing it this way will not work for long.....
I'm lifetime member with WW. I took out my point program but now you think that there's a "no point" program?? Didn't hear of that one yet... Actually WW is tonight, I think I'll go see. Thank you. I did good today. One day at a time... I used to look at the big picture before, now I'm taking it differently. Thanks!
I lost 25 pounds on WW more than two years ago and have kept it off. I gained 28 lbs while preggers last year but lost almost all of it within 6 weeks of giving birth - I credit WW for that as well! I carried the extra weight around forever after my first child! That weight, plus the extra I put on after I stopped breast feeding is what led me to WW in the first place. WW changed my life!!! I haven't been that diciplined this summer and I gained 5 pounds, but I started informally counting points about 10 days ago and I am halfway there.
Susieg, keep it up! I am sure you'll get there. WW has a new "no points" program - can't remember what its called. Are you on that?
Foxxy, way to go on Atkins! This program wasn't for me (constipation, ugh!) but your success is inspiring!
for your "boost". After reading all you posts and input, I finally decided to do something. I started this morning!!! I need willpower... I'll keep referring to this tread when I'm in need of support... Thank you so much everyone!
I just saw my aunt yesterday and was amazed at the transformation! She is about 57 and has always been extremely young looking but had a big weight problem. She has developed arthritis in both knees and with lack of exercise, her weight increased even more. After seeing a (knee) surgeon in January she became hopeless after he refused to operate because of her weight! He told her to follow Atkins and come back after three months. She has lost 35 pounds and her knees have become less painful and swollen. She may not need the operation now. She looks better than I have ever seen her. She takes Greensplus everyday (1 scoop in water) and that takes care of any constipation problems. It is the equivalent to 7 servings of veggies. She has also started drinking a (low carb) whey protein drink...which I just picked up for her at Costco..at half the price found in health food stores...$34 for 90 servings I think. I also noticed they have another version of the "green drink"...much cheaper than Greensplus brand. Keep going, Foxxy, you are doing great!
I am on Atkins diet since end of July. After 2 weeks I increased some carbs in the form of blueberries, strawberries and melon and whole wheat pita bread. I am NEVER hungry. I take a multi-vitamin each day. I eat a lot of fish, chicken, shrimp and once in awhile lean steak. My portions were never large to begin with so this is not hard for me. I eat lots of raw or steamed veggies. Just added carrots and fresh corn. I bought his 1st book and read it twice. You may find you are a little constipated but I take 1-2 tsp. Metamucil each day in water. + I drink lots of water and some tomato juice like V8. diet Coke, diet iced tea. Psyillium hulls are good too for constipation but I could not find them.
I eat eggs, bacon, ham and cheese in omellettes. I di buy the ketaone strips but they took 2 weeks to change colour and now only mauve, never purple as some people. There is lots of info on the Net for Atkins and carbs. Good Luck.
I went on weight watchers 2 years ago. I lost 60 lbs in 6 months. I have managed to keep off most of it (I have gained 5 lbs since Nov. so I am back on the program and have lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks). I found it really changed my lifestlye.
Hi, I can't seem to find what diet you're on... Congratulations!!!!! Keep up the good work! I have to lose some pounds also. Can you please let me know what program you are following. Since my back injury, I can't exercise so of course I'm gaining weight like crazy. Thank you so much!
27 pounds and I am down 2 sizes as I lost it all in the right places. Will keep it up as I feel well and blood pressure is down.
24 lbs. and holding as not falling off as quickly so I must exercise 6 x week in pool.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
I did put it in there but it didn't show up. How's this: www.fitday.com
can you post the web site please, it is just what I need. Thanks.
good for you Foxxy, keep up the good work! I have found a Website that is useful for me: . It allows you to enter all the nutiritional info from the things you actually eat, it has a stored database with values for some things, and most important, it will calculate for you grams of fat, grams of carb, grams of protein, as well as percentages, (and, of course, calories) per day. This way, I found I could get a handle on what I was actually taking in.
At first, I plotted what I ate regularly and discovered that I was not taking in nearly enough protein!! been dieting for sooooo long (every diet known to man and woman!) and everyone kept saying "cut the portion sizes" "eat more veggies" etc to the point where I was just not getting enough protein. Got lots of exercise, too, but never seemed to make any headway on the weight or the *inches*. I was very discouraged.
Now I am on a healthy diet, eating lots of fruit and veggies watching the fat and carb intake (especially the high glycemic index foods), and watching to make sure I get enough protein by eating low-fat yogurt and nuts. Have lost about 9 lbs, but, more importantly, a whole dress size! And working on the abs and muscle tone.
My treat is a Horton's iced Cap now and then. Have no idea of the carbs but I love them and yes deserve it too. Thanks.
it only lasts for a week or so. It is like your body knows that it is losing fat and we are programed to store it...to protect us from "starvation", you know going back to the cave man and not knowing when your next meal would wander by. This doesnt' happen as much on Atkin's because the idea is to continually add a small number of carbs back each week, while continuing to lose fat. Once your desired weight is achieved, the maintenance program is used depending on the number of carbs your body can use before it starts storing fat again. If you notice that your weight loss (by the scale) is slowing ..just increase fat burning exercise like fast walking or skipping works too! and don't forget the odd treat, now and then..you deserve it!
Plateau: any hints for when I hit it? Thanks.
I am eating more carbs now with blueberries, avacado, tomaotoes and melon. I am eating vegs of every colour I can find and at this time of year they are fresh and cheaper to buy.
I however don't count carbs as I have no carb counter but have checked on the Web in the carb counter to see what carb grams each thing has. I just know that my clothes are lose aound the rear and hips and the scale tells me I have lost weight (fat). What do you mean by "plateau" ? I don't remember reading about it. Thanks.
How many (net) carbs are you allowing now? It is important to keep increasing by 5 at least every week...or we found we added 10 for 2 days (weekends) and reduced by 5 for week days avoid the "plateau." Your metabolism has increased now due to your weight loss and you should be able to increase your carb count and continue to lose. Some people stay on the "induction" phase for too long which is dangerous and not very effective. Hooray for you, Foxxy!
