& Dr. Phil. I lost 18lbs with weight watchers in about 3months. You can eat anything really as long as you count it- just don't blow your daily pints on 1 meal! And you can save points for special occasions. It dosen't take long before you know how many points everything is, then you don't really have to count anymore. Stopped going to meetings & weigh in's becasue I thought i could do it myself now that I had the info - but not so! Stay with it.
Tried Dr. Phil more recently. Felt like I was eating very healthy. But I didn't have very much success. I really believe exercise is almost important as the food.I have a knee injury that is still nagging me & i can't exercise like I used to. When I start eating properly, I don't see the results like I used to.
I got the 6 Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond.. WOW! It's quite expensive (about $200) but it works.
Cons: I couldn't stick it out for more than a week, but I don't have much will power. haha ..
Pros: Wow does it work!! The whole idea is to have 6 small meals a day (3 main ones and 3 snacks). You make a menu totally tailored to you, but eating the same elements every day (1/2 cup carbs for breakfast along with a fruit, etc).. that's just an example. Anyways, it's great for someone who has alot of willpower and who wants to lose weight fast. I lost 11 lbs in 5 days :o and I was never hungry!
I lost 40lbs about 3 years ago, and have kept is mostly off (give or take 5lbs here and there)! But when I feel the pants getting snug...I just really pay attention to what I'm eating. It's all about choice. We all know EXCACTLY what we shouldn't be eating, but we generally we choose to eat it anyway. My mother was diagnosed with Diabetes and after reading some of her literature - I started to think about my choices. Easiest way -- does what I'm about to eat grow that way, or was it processed to be this way? The more processing -- the more fat/sugar/carbs et al. If it's a whole food that "grew" that way it's a good choice. Eating way more fruits and veggies -- giving up most processed snacks was simple. White flour = sugar...am I going on too long!! Now I just have to start excercising -- but I figure painting and re-arranging my furniture counts!
I met with a nutritionist who taught me good eating habits, got a lot of exercise, and lost almost 80 pounds in 8 months. I've maintained my new weight for almost a year. I might try to lose another 15 or so pounds, but I'm not in any hurry to do it.
Some tips... eat smaller quantities of food more often (including 2-3 snacks a day), eat more veggies & fruits, choose complex carbs instead of regular carbs (for example, multigrain bread and brown rice instead of white bread & white rice), try to avoid going back for seconds, make sure half your supper plate is veggies, and don't deny yourself anything!!
Pros: Easy to stick with better new eating habits, no counting points or calories, no forbidden foods, never hungry....
Cons: None!!
