Disappointed

I continue to look on the forum every other day or so, but there are so few new posts.  Where is everybody?   I miss reading about everyone's decorating challenges.  I am finding the forum much easier to navigate, although I have not attempted to post a photo.  Everything else is becoming more user friendly.  So I hope everyone decides to return.

Just checking in today for the first time in about a month. There's a definite improvement but the board is still pretty slow for me.

I'll check back again in a couple of days. Hopefully things should pick up a bit in the new year.

The changes that have been made are a definite improvement. Thanks for listening to the forum members and addressing the issues.

Now let me see if I can post a picture....

Yep, looks like I can :-) Thanks for making that change!!

I know you've been disappointed, and I hope you like the changes we've got lined up, based on the feedback we've been getting. We're working hard to get as much done before the Holidays, and I'll have another progress report up in a day or two.

Regarding logins - the current behaviour is that you'll stay logged in as long as your browser window is open - if you shut down your web browser or log out of your computer (or turn it off), then you'll have to log in again.

Based on the feedback here, we are going to change this as well, to keep you logged in even after you reboot.

Cheers, and have a great Holiday season!

I check the Decorating & Design forum fairly often, but am always disappointed to find nothing new.  I had log-in problems on the old forums, and now this one doesn't seem to save my log-in, so I am frustrated to say the least.  :(

I hope that it's just "that time of year" and that things pick up soon, because it was a great site.  :(

Yep - I'm with you ladies. This has not been a positive change to say the least. This is the first time I've checked the forums in about 3 weeks.

I've got some stuff going on so maybe I'll try posting some pics and see if I can interest anyone in a response.

The excessive white space and the ads between posts are really annoying.

Well I have left too.  I check in once weekly to see if there is any action or improvement with this new format.  All I have found is that there are no or very few new posts, still can't search, and basically NO improvements.  What a way to destroy a good / postive forum! IT should be fired and if it was farmed out to a IT company, part ways.

I do not find this format easier to navigate.  All the white space, advertisements, scrolling down to the end of the earth etc.  What a debacle!

I was a tester. But to be honest, I didn't give any feedback. I still had my log in problems with the test site, so I got frustrated and didn't test it as much as I should have once the log in problems were sorted out. I didn't really like the new format much, but I assumed that things would be better with the real live new forum, so I wasn't all that worried. Obviously, that was a mistake, and I'm sorry I didn't speak up when I had the chance.

I've been checking the forums now and then, but just haven't really had anything to post about. I guess it's pretty much a Catch 22 -- not much action so not much to say, and not much to say because there isn't much action. Plus I can't figure out how to do stuff that I want to do, like search for an old topic (assuming old topics are still around here somewhere). I want to check out some of karenm's posts about Revere Pewter, but have no idea how to find them.

This is definitely a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." The old forum format was unique and easy to navigate. It wasn't perfect, but it was much better than the new format. And it was busy -- isn't that the whole point of a forum??

Since my life is anything but normal right now (meaning I am still working on a wireless signal I am picking up from somewhere unknown) I am not on much right now. Itsjustme, I think you should post your pictures and new projects because maybe it will help give the place a bit of a kick start. I know what you mean about now being the time for needing help since I have this rental house to figure out now and I am going to be miffed if all the experts are gone.

Less I was one of the folks asked to comment on the new forums. I have to say my comments were similar to those posted when it finally got put up. What baffles me to no end is how it was done when it just wasn't ready (the 6+ months of log in problems being a prime example). I have never seen a site like this (large) suffer such a long extended botch of a redesign and relaunch. it's so unbelievable to me such a thing would happen on such an active and large site. I just hope that some how, some way, it manages to recover but I really wonder given the users have been inconvenienced about 6 mos. too long.

All I can say is it would be nice if we could get it going as active and helpful as it was before and I guess if we want it, we have to be the ones who start posting and making a point of trying. Maybe now the biggest of the bugs have been dealt with, the worst is over, and we can try and recover. I won't have my Internet hooked up until next week (we need our old expressive emicons back or at least some more interesting ones than the current choices because there is no way for me to show how excited I will be to be connected to the world again). Over 2 weeks without TV or consistant Internet....it's been a real flash to the past for me and I want it over.

Maybe in time things will get better. I too was much more comfortable with the 'old' way. However activity levels are way down and that should be a real concern and an omen.

I hope the people who made the decision realize this and step in to do something.

One change I will admit to liking is having this reply box bigger and the type size being bigger. Requires a lot less preview time and more posting time...

Hey Chicadee, I understand completely your disappointment.  I said I was leaving and for all intents and purposes I essentially have but.....time to time I check in to see what has happened with this forum.  It certainly has been one of the best design forums that I have ever found.  I too have several projects on the go and one completed project that I should probably share with all the members that helped me through it....BUT.... everyone seems to have gone.

I wish the people that tested the forum would speak up. I am curious to know who actually did test and if so, where are they now and is it all going as they hoped.

Anyway, it seems to be more manageable.

I am still holding my breath waiting for it to get better.... the forum is dead, hardly any new posts.

I dont come here often anymore. I am repainting and furnishing my new home, and would have liked to post some photos or ask for advice...but I guess I'm on my own.

I am finding it easier also...I had no problem posting pictures but for some reason I cannot change my avatar picture ?

I am looking everyday (sometimes I don't log in - just read) and it has been quiet.  I am finding it easier as well, whether it is from the changes tech people have made or I am just getting use to finding my way around better.  Other than my cats picture, I have not posted any pictures but figure if I can do it there, I can do it in my post as well.
