Recently I've noticed a "film" on some of my small plates when I take them out of the dishwasher, almost as if it's soap residue. I've tried vinegar;salt;baking soda & I can't get then shiny again. Can anyone offer a suggestion. I bought them as extras from Homesense so they weren't expensive it just bugs me.

Thanks everyone for your replies. The glaze on these particular plates may be sub standard because all the other dishes are fine. Fortunately they are spare so they will only be used by myself & my DH. I have bought other pottery from Homesense & it's been fine, just the luck of the draw I guess.

It is happen to me with the cover of a Corning Ware dish.
Now I washed it by hand.
My water is very hard and I tried a lot of soap and it isn't better.
Look if you have enough rinse agent, this can help.

I have heard of this too, I think very soft or very hard water can do it as well.
Have you recently changed your detergent?

Wolfbaby is right. Sometimes the harsh dishwasher detergent can pit the surface on a weak glaze.

Some dishes and glasses will get a "haze" in the dishwasher that is kind of like they were sandblasted - it's the detergent spraying on them that slightly damages the surface. It doesn't scrub off because it isn't actually something on them - they have been "sanded" in a way.

Some detergents seem to cause this more than others. I don't know if that's been proven though, just my opinion.
