My dishwasher is not a year old and came with a supply of soap that I do not remember the brand name of. That brand did an excellent cleaning job.
What brand do you use as I have now Electrosol and it does not do a great job. Yes I have the spot remover stuff in there, it is the dishes that are nor clean, there are not spots.
Anything sticky I rinse first too. Thanks :)

liquid Cascade for me...find it works the best...i found the powder clumps up too...just tried the Casade packets with the gel in them...they were ok...but i don't see myself buying them too often
Hi Foxxy.
I don't use my dishwasher every day, However, when I do use it I will use what ever is on sale. I quite frequently use either the NoName brand from Zehrs or No Frills or Life Brand from Shoppers Drug Mart. I also have used electrosal and Cascade. I have not had any problem with any of them. Have you checked the temperature your hot water heater is set at? We actually had to lower ours when we moved in, the builder or installers had set it at an insane temperature. FYI I don't rinse off my plates. If my little guy leaves a blob of ketchup ( YECH!!!) on his plate......into the dishwasher it goes.....it still comes out clean. I might get water spots on my plates but they don't bother my as long as my dishes are actually clean.
a few months ago the Sears guy was here doing a warranty check and I asked him about DW soaps and such. He told me in the newer machines they find powders work the best and he recommended Cascade (liquids do better in the older machines apparently). I had been having trouble getting things to come out clean (they were either cloudy or still dirty or both).
Anyway he told me to get rid of the Costco liquid (problem being by the time I use it up it's too old and the ingredients aren't as active anymore), adjusted my rinse opening so more rinse agent would come out (news to me that you could do that), and told me to use more soap. So I do that, got the Cascade powder and fill until I can barely close the little door thingie and it actually means my dishes come out totally clean and clear.
I am using the crystals Electrosol right now....I will get a small box of Walmart and some liquid Cascade. Cheese would never come off in the dishwasher with what I am using...the water is hot enough too as this just started with the Electrosol.
I use a liquid Cascade and rinse agent in my machine if I don't use a rinse the dishes never dry. I have a brand new Bosch. The liquid Cascade works really well I never rinse hardy even scrape and they come out spotless. I used to use powder but found it would sometimes clump so I switched to the liquid and I like it a lot better.
as you know im new to this dishwasher thing, however i did see a shopping bags episode where they put alot of the dishwasher soaps to the test....cascade, electrasol and some others including the walmart brand, and they put the walmart brand as the one they would buy as it was cheaper and cleaned as well. So i remembered this and that is what i bought, i have not used the jet stuff yet, just the soap and my dishes have come out wonderful and that is using a older dishwasher....we even did a test the last run, a bowl covered in melted cheddar cheese hardened on and it came out spotless....so im happy with the Walmart Great Value, i believe is the name
