Hi rayzer, I'm new to the forums too. Since it appears that you're in the planning phases and just looking for reading/informational material at this point, you can also search Canada HiFi Magazine online at http://canadahifi.com for related information, buyers guides and links to manufacturers of every top brand home theater component available on the market today. Cheers.
Head over to Chapters, or online and look for magazines on home sound/popular electronics etc and I'm sure you will get your design ideas. Also there is a great store on Mt. Pleasant in Toronto that caters to 'systems'. If you are not in Toronto search out a similar store in your area.
Chances are these folks might know some good contractors that could help you out. There is also a website for trades people - perhaps through Mike Holmes or Bryan Baumler have information on their sites.
