Ok, so I'm all settled in to my brand new home and NOW I want to take on the task of doing my own kitchen backsplash using 4X4 travertine tiles.
Has anyone here done their own back splash before? I *DO* have a little experience working with ceramic tiles as I did our mosaic coffee table/end table for our livingroom but I am looking for any tips or words of encouragement as I plan on tackling this beginning next weekend. :)
I will post pics for sure!

Hi! I am planning on doing them 90 degrees around the outside border and then 45 on the inside...if that makes sense. I can't buy any of the 12" bar tiles for borders because they are 25 bux each and thats just too much for me.
Home Depot and Rona stores should offer some courses on doing ceramic tile. The hardest part is laying it out and cutting. Are you planning on using them 90 degrees or on the 45? I think the 45 is much more interesting, but it takes 5-10% More tile and there is a lot of cutting opn the angle.
