Embarrassed Dog

 IMO, my dog if he were still alive would be embarrassed to be carried like this. It doesn't even look comfy for the little guy. At least this one serves a purpose on a bike though I'm not certain how safe it would be for the rider. Another pic showed a woman walking her poodle, except the poodle was being carried.

Well here's hoping there is a good reason for those carriers vs just being a way to take a healthy dog along without it's feet touching the ground.

When my last dog got Cushing's, near the end walking was not an option and I really wished I had a wagon or cart or something because just getting out in the fresh air and seeing new things would have been something she'd have liked. As it was we just went in the car with the windows down. If she'd been small, those chest carriers would have been just the thing. How a healthy dog feels about it is another issue.

boy my dog gets a miffed look on her face when she has to wear her winter coat. I can't imagine what she would do if put in a carrier. She'd probably try and cover her face with her ears.

Have you seen the dogs, usually blue heelers, that ride behind the saddle on a horse? The rider will give the horse's rump a pat, up jumps the dog and scoots into place.

Oh, and those carriers were also shown attached to the car seat so doggie hangs there while riding along. Wonder what this does to a dog's spine.

We recently returned from Italy and saw a fairly elderly man riding a very vintage bicycle on which he had attached a 1 foot x 1 foot piece of plywood to the front fender. His beloved pooch sat on the plywood while he road the bike though the streets of Florence(!!!). No sides, no seatbelts, no nothing - just a dog with stupendous balance.

This reminds me of the man I saw the other day at the park, riding in his motorized wheelchair (I'm not sure what they're called). Anyway, in the basket in front, is his dog. He is taking his dog for a walk. I mean really. Put the dog on the ground and let it walk!
