Engineered Hardwood flooring...glue or float?

We're having engineered hardwood put in throughout the main level of our house. We can't put hardwood down because the floor is concrete...unless we put a sub floor down...too much $$$. I'm wondering if anyone knows if engineered flooring is supposed to be glued right down to the concrete or is it supposed to have some foam or other support placed underneath? I've heard both opinions. Does someone know what is best or know where the best place to find info on this would be. Thanks :)

Hi,

Like a previous poster said, it will depend on the specific product - some are made to float and some to glue or nail. Personally, I'd suggest a glue down as they feel more solid (more like a nailed) I'm told.

Here's a link to good site with lots of info:

at the instructions on the box, it may vary by product, too.

Can you talk with the folks at the store you are getting the floor through or call a flooring store or three and see if you can get a consensus? I can't imagine why you'd glue a wood floor down but then I have zero experience with flooring on cement either.
