Sorry for the delay in responding. After thinking about it - I decided the Delongli was a bad idea - what I was also looking for was a combination coffee maker and expresso - but with your info and another trip to the store - I came to the conclusion they were too cheaply made with plastic etc and would probably have probs. So, I bought a gorgeous stainless steal French Press from Starbucks and will probably also buy a great stove top expresso. Anyone looking at the french press - totally recommend - keeps the coffee hotter than the glass version and looks great on your table!

that's what we have also...have had all our lives:) Now we just bought a new one (the old one had been used to death) & it came with a manual frother that is amazing! The milk goes in this small pot-like jug, & while the coffee brews the milk warms just slightly. The top has a lid that looks like a mesh strainer on one end, Acouple pumps of the lid & we get froth like you wouldn't believe! I believe we paid about $27.00 for the set:)

We have the old fashioned kind for the stove top. My husband uses it and loves it. He makes me a nice big latte every morning. (Yes, I'm very lucky!)

Hi mmccormi

I have a Delonghi right now in the espresso maker and i hate it, it adds so much water to the steamed milk and if you even pack it a little to tight the espresso will not come through and we have to through way the grinds and start over again it's so crazy, we also have a problem getting it to heat the milk up to the proper temp. now the other company i heard was good is Krups.ca hope this helps

I'm thinking about getting the Delonghi Figaro that has both the expresso and regular coffee http://www.espressozone.com/delonghi-bc0110.html. Anyone had any experience with this one?

thank-you for your advice and making me laugh, now if only DH could do laundry and make coffee at the same time that would be great.

They have a couple different models though - which one are you looking at?

There's the one that's about $1,000 (YIKES!) But I think it does your laundry too - LOL! at least it better at that price! :D

And one that pours pre-measured shots of espresso.

And one that is a bit more manual - this is the one I have. When I bought it, I was told there isn't much difference between the last 2 models other than one has the pre-measured shots. The reason I didn't want that, is because I tend to make my coffee more on the strong side, and wanted to be able to adjust the amount of the shot myself.

It makes great lattes and espressos, etc. though. I've had other brands, but for me, I like this one best. It's used twice daily, and still running strong. I've had it for almost 3 years.
