Euchre - to count

I haven't played euchre since I lived in Ontario and that's been a long time. I printed off the rules but it doesn't show how to keep count. It think it was using the 4 & 5. I don't want to resort to the old paper & pencil method. Can someone help me? Also it will totally impress my guests who I'm going to teach the game. The weather must be way too hot if I believe that.

P.S. Hope everyone had a good weekend. It was 38 degrees here today.

Thanks Smoodgie. I don't know what search words I was using last night but I just was hitting it right. I'll blame it on the late hour and the long hot day.

As I started looking farther into the rules I noticed little points that weren't in my original hit. I want all these newbies to play it the same way I did in southern Ontario. The fun part of euchre is that you can talk & eat and the same time. Try doing this with a serious bridge player.

You pronounce it "you-ker" :) No idea whey it's not spelled like how it sounds!!

You use a regular deck of cards, but only from the 9's to the aces. You play with a partner and you want to win more tricks than the opposing team. And that's about all I know!! I totally suck at cards -- I don't think I've won a card game in two or three years!! I can't even beat a three year old at Go Fish  ;)

Wow, I just Googled "Euchre how to keep score" -- there are LOTS of ways to use the cards to keep score!! Some say to use the 2 and 3 cards, some say the 5 cards, some say the 4 and 6 cards.... I guess any combination of cards that will let you count up to 10 will work :)

I suck at Euchre and have no idea how to keep score -- but I do know that you use the four 5 cards. You start with one face up and one face down. Use the one that's face down to cover the face up card, and then uncover the symbols on the face-up card (one symbol for each point). After you're up to 5 point, flip the face down card so that it's face-up, and do the same thing, uncovering the symbols on the bottom face up card till you're up to 10 points with all the symbols on the two cards uncovered.

Whoa, does that sound as confusing as think it does?!
