There was a great article in Threads magazine (# 108) on making round ottomans. They had other shapes too, a star, a heart.... I'm pretty sure you can order back issues.

You did a great job on your ottoman. It would also be very easy to make a slipcover for it, so that you can change the look with the season, etc. I made an ottoman out of an old speaker cabinet: got a piece of wood cut for the top, hinged it onto the speaker cabinet to make a trunk, topped it with 2" foam and dacron for softness, and upholstered the top by stapling fabric to the underside of the lid. I put castors on the bottom. It ends up being hidden storage, because I made one piece slipcovers that come snuggly down over the sides so that it looks similar to yours, but I can take the cover off to access my personal stuff!

Hi!
I made an ottoman cube, and it was amazingly easy.

Materials: Fabric(s), foam, plywood, staple gun.
For a 24" cube, I had a 24x24" piece of plywood (actually, mine was 24x23, and the DIY store just gave it to me!). I purchased three 24x24x8" pieces of foam, and the dealer glued them together for me so that they wouln'd shift - the 8" is amazingly cheaper than trying to get the same depth - even so, it cost about $80. I also put mine on wheels (I'd probably get bigger wheels next time if it's going on carpet). I covered the foam cube with lining material I had on hand (dacron would make a nice finish too), and stapled it under the board, then did the same thing with the fabric (I pieced it together in a diamond design). Screw the wheels underneath, and voila!
Good Luck!

I made my own ottoman, well sort of! It was easy and a lot of fun! I bought the base from IKEA, painted its legs, added some extra foam, and made slip covers with a fabric that coordinates with my room. Then I covered the ottoman and stapled the cover to the base. See the picture below.

Good luck :)...
